High Bank Whiskey War Barrel Proof
Blended American Whiskey — Ohio, USA
Reviewed May 21, 2022 (edited October 19, 2023)Nose is pleasant but hard to identify, somewhat green grain smell. High quality rye flavor but taste really blossoms with a few drops of water. Proof is surprising given overall smoothness. Almost a bubble gum flavor coming through. Finish is long and full. -
Glenfiddich Fire & Cane
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed May 21, 2022 (edited July 15, 2022)Very sweet with slightest hint of peat but very short finish. Very unassuming for 43% and potential gateway scotch for those trying to get into peated drams. Not bad for the price. -
Kirkland 7 Year Small Batch Kentucky Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed June 12, 2021 (edited January 16, 2022)Reminds me a lot of four roses with less spice. Surprised to see the proof given the lack of heat. -
Kirkland 23 Year Speyside Single Malt Sherry Cask Finish
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed June 12, 2021Relatively smooth but surprising one dimensional for a 23 year whiskey. Beautiful dark chestnut coloring and strong influence of sherry. Not bad for the price point if this is the taste you are going for but many younger age statements with more complexity on the market. -
Paniolo Blended Whiskey
Blended American Whiskey — USA
Reviewed June 12, 2021 (edited July 14, 2021)Nose: pleasant and sweet with hints of butter rum. Sweet and harsh with strong notes of brown sugar. It tastes how I imagine taking Irish Mist liquor and mixing in Everclear. Finish: short finish with slightly tangy aftertaste. Straight forward dram that is pleasant to pair with grilled pineapple on a warm day. -
