Honey brown color that is somewhat lighter than expected. On the nose I get sweetness, caramel, mellow oak, vanilla and some faint heat. The palate is dominated by oak to an unpleasant degree. Some corn comes in at the end. The oak really washed out any other flavor to me, will try this one again after I let the bottle breathe for a while.

Really wanted to like this one, but I just couldn't. The spice was unpleasant and overpowering. Tried diluting with water and still couldn't get behind it. The rye spice was more overpowering than in most rye's I've had; and it lacked any of the pleasant qualities I usually love from a rye. Maybe I just got a bad bottle, but it was one of the most unpleasant whiskies I've had in a while.

Forged Oak 15 Year Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky (bottled in Tennessee), USA
Reviewed July 26, 2017 (edited April 24, 2018)Simple and smooth with a slight playfulness. Hard to identify a lot of the notes. Mellow sweetness that keeps reminding me of red hots.
