Glenfiddich 18 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed January 23, 2020 (edited November 13, 2020)Nose- fresh apples, ginger, wet oak, sherry, butterscotch, honey Palate- juicy apples, vanilla toffee, ginger, candied orange, apricot, melon, raw sugar Finish- Long, spicy finish with notes of toffee, melon, and ginger spice Fantastic dram. Balanced all around with an excellent level of complexity. Could drink this all day. This is like a bouquet of fruits and sweetness. The marriage of sherry and bourbon cask here really works. Love the apples on the nose and candied fruits on the palate, with a long finish thats all you can ask for out of a whisky. -
Nose- peach syrup, peat smoke, seaweed, sweet berries, roasted coffee, chili flakes, pencil shavings Palate- Canned peaches, Sea salt, light peat smoke, rich vanilla, chocolate, honey Finish- Medium, rich finish with notes of peat smoke, sweet berries and sea salt The only Johnny Walker that i’ve tried worth drinking. Still not anything that amazing though. Good balance, solid complexity and nice highlights of berries on the nose and rich chocolate and vanilla on the palate. This would be great if it was 80 dollars, but 200+? Forget about it... go buy a Lagavulin 16

Beautiful nose, and great palate with notes of buttered pancakes. Nice long finish. Would be very satisfied if I bought and drank this for MSRP. But 550+? No way in hell. -
Compass Box This Is Not a Luxury Whisky
Blended — Scotland
Reviewed January 23, 2020 (edited September 15, 2020)Nose- bananas, apricot, ripe apples, brown sugar, gentle smoke, honey, dates Palate- Mushy bananas, brown sugar, figs, honey, black pepper, light peat smoke, sweet sherry Finish- Long, oily finish that coats the mouth and tongue with notes of berries, charred wood, and black pepper Mmm mmm mmm. This is my first experience with Compass box, and i’m impressed. Overall, super complex on the nose, palate and finish. Oily and stings the tongue throughout, with a finish that seems to last forever. Every time I nose and drink this, I keep getting new flavors, and some that I can’t quite place. Very enjoyable dram that is in your face and has wonderful, bold flavors. -
Nose- Wet oak, Orange peel, buttered toffee, sweet caramel, molasses Palate- sweetened vanilla, Caramel, heavy oak, chocolate muffin, sugar cookies Finish- Long, DRY finish with notes of sweetness and wet oak Really nice big hitting bourbon. Great balance of sweet notes with oak. Not too complex, but has a long finish that dries the mouth out and is overall quite enjoyable. A little too dry and a little overhyped in my opinion, but with the bottle design and its big bold flavors, this bottle is still a big win for me

Old Pulteney 25 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed January 23, 2020 (edited December 17, 2021)Nose- apricot, sandalwood, sea salt, orange marmalade, light oak, ginger spices Palate- Honey, toasted almonds, toasted oak, toffee, ginger, creamy vanilla Finish- medium, creamy finish with notes of vanilla and ginger spice Very complex nose on this one. Not too in your face, but many different dimensions and flavors. Palate is good, nothing to write home about though. Finish is medium, with nice flavors, but forgettable. For a 25 year whisky, I can’t help but be disappointed to be honest. -
William Larue Weller Bourbon (Fall 2017)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 23, 2020 (edited February 9, 2021)Nose- Vanilla wafer cookies, fruit punch, cherry, caramel, brown sugar, confectioners sugar Palate- Rainer cherries, caramel, vanilla, chewy toffee, black pepper, honey Finish- Long, bold finish with notes of honey, caramel, and intense spice Such an amazing nose. I could smell this for hours, and definitely the highlight of this bourbon. The palate is bold, chewy and complex. Beautiful flavors of cherry and very vanilla forward. The finish is a memorable one as well, as it lasts forever with lingering spice and caramel notes. All in all, pretty amazing, with the nose being the main highlight for me. For MSRP, it’s absolutely worth it, would never pay $700+ for it though. -
Nose- ginger, mushy bananas, butterscotch, vanilla Palate- bananas, caramel, ginger spice, light smoke, vanilla, butterscotch Finish- medium, creamy finish with notes of butterscotch and light smoke Really really nice overall. Fantastic nose, matching palate, and a finish that is just good enough. Could be longer, but the banana on the nose and palate is really enticing to me. I wish I could find this on shelves, but unfortunately, since it’s discontinued, I won’t be seeing another. Would be a perfect ~$80 drinker.

Nose- honey, apples, caramel, earthy, raisins Palate- honey, sweet fruits, light oak, vanilla, sherry sweetness Finish- short, oily finish finish with notes of sherry sweetness and honey All around pretty good. Nothing special on either the nose palate or finish, but all very balanced and tasty. There are better daily drinkers out there comparatively, but I would never turn this one down
