GlenDronach Cask Strength Batch 2
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed January 23, 2020 (edited January 25, 2022)Nose- raisins, toffee, caramel, rum soaked bananas, apples, ripe citrus, mint Palate- Dark fruits, honey, ripe bananas, dark caramel. Added water bring out juicy pear notes and ginger Finish- medium, oily finish with notes of toffee and spice Really well balanced. Heavy sherry notes on the nose and palate, with a good amount of spice mingled in. Adding water brings out some more spice and brighter fruits such as pear and banana. Not my favorite sipper in the world, but still a damn good dram -
Nose- Red fruits, cashew nuts, sea salt, plums, milk chocolate Palate- honey, dried oak, chocolate, sweet biscuits Finish- short finish of milk chocolate and oak Pretty simple nose. Solid port notes such as chocolate and cashews. Palate is rich and full, with a short finish. All in all, not that impressive for a 200 dollar whisky. I much prefer the 14 year Caribbean cask

Nose- light floral, creamy vanilla, strawberry jam, ginger, sea salt, almond Palate- Strawberry marmalade, peat smoke, vanilla bean, raspberry jam, almonds Finish- medium and creamy finish with ginger and light peat lingering throughout That’s what i’m talking about. I love this dram. Extremely complex, just the right amount of peat, with wonderful flavors I don’t usually get in scotch like raspberry jam and almonds. Lovely althroughout and a huge fan of the abv, not overpowering and gives it an extra umph

Nose- ginger, orange zest, banana, juicy pear, creamy vanilla, spiced oak Palate- Sweet honey, gingerbread, vanilla, light caramel, orange rind, wood spice Finish- Long finish with delicious fruits, citrus and spice Really balanced and delicious whisky. I would be thrilled with this if it was 100 dollars. But at six times the price? No no no no no way I would ever buy a bottle of this. Lovely nose with the normal macallan notes (ginger, citrus, oak) with a palate that could be sipped for days. Finish is nice and long with an oily mouthfeel and nice notes of fruits and light spice.

GlenDronach Allardice 18 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed January 23, 2020 (edited April 13, 2020)Nose- Thick thick thick sherry, dark chocolate, juicy plums, rum funk, musty wood, pineapple, maple syrup, gingerbread and brown sugar Palate- Spiced christmas cake, aged wood, chocolate covered raisins, funky rum, walnuts, maple syrup Finish- long and thick finish with heavy sherry throughout with additional notes of chocolate and baking spices Wow. Sherry BOMB. Thick and bold flavors of everything sherry, with unique funky rum on the nose and palate. One of the most complex noses i’ve ever had, with notes that go on and on. Palate is much like the nose, complex and beautiful, with tons of wood and chocolate. All in all, does not disappoint, and is absolutely a great value. My only gripe is that the wood flavors overpower it just in the slightest, but are quickly overcome. -
Nose- brown sugar, chocolate, wood, sea salt, earthy Palate- chocolate, malty, orange, wood Finish- medium, oily finish with notes of wood spice and chocolate Pretty alright. What you would expect from a port finished whisky. Wouldn’t buy a bottle, pretty basic all in all. Nicer finish than other core Glenmos that i’ve had. Nothing stands out like crazy, though. Solid whisky all around.

Nose- lemon, oranges, vanilla, floral, light Palate- vanilla custard, lemon, light floral, bitter wood Finish- short finish with bitter wood notes Good entry level highland whisky. Simple, yet effective and tasty. Nice fruity and floral notes on nose and palate. Not the greatest finish, and not a huge fan of the bitter wood notes.

Glenmorangie Lasanta Sherry Cask Finish 12 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed January 23, 2020 (edited March 30, 2020)Nose- oranges, raisins, dried fruit Palate- chocolate, raisins, malt forward Finish- short finish bitter notes Not a fan. Whatsoever. 10/10 would not recommend. Only bright spot is the flavor of raisins on the palate. Other than that, it’s one dimensional and has a weird bitter note on the finish. -
Glenmorangie Nectar D'or 12 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed January 23, 2020 (edited May 1, 2020)Nose- fuji apples, oranges, lemon, shortbread cookies, vanilla icing Palate- orange, sugar cookies, lemon poundcake, Riesling wine Finish- short to medium finish of riesling wine My favorite pour of the Glenmorangie sample box (Nectar, la santa, quinta ruban, original). Nice fruit bouquet on the nose. Solid palate, not as good as the nose though. Finish could be better. Wouldn’t buy a bottle, but I would order it again at a bar. -
Nose- buttered pancakes, sea salt, orange zest, light smoke, brown sugar, canned peaches, juicy cherries Palate- Orange marmalade, peat smoke, sea salt, soft vanilla, honey, espresso Finish- Long, delicious finish with flavors of fruits, espresso, peat smoke and a light spice Delicious. Everything you could ask for in a whisky. Just delicious, need I say more? Perfectly balanced. Just the right amount of peat and spice. Perfect proof for this dram. The price though, is the downfall. I don’t know how much better the 25 is than Highland Park 18, with a 400 price difference. If anything, this is an ode to the 18. Nonetheless, one of the best whiskies I’ve tried.
