Redwood Empire Lost Monarch Whiskey
Blended American Whiskey — USA
Reviewed July 29, 2021 (edited December 18, 2021)Really enjoyed this. A sweet nose with bubble gum, smoke, and baking spice. More viscous in mouth feel than expected. First taste gives me glazed donuts with hint of baking spice. It’s a short finish, but being s blend of rye and bourbon, it has enough spice to let you know it’s a rye. Finishes with toasted caramels and spice. A crushable daily and a good value at $40 -
Woody Creek Colorado Straight 100% Rye
Rye — Colorado, USA
Reviewed October 11, 2020 (edited October 15, 2021)This bottle was return fire from a friend to whom I had previously sent on of my favorites. He knows my love of rye’s. The nose was fruity with a banana front followed by a pleasant vanilla. The first taste was very balanced spicy (think fall spices), fruity, and vanilla. With a few drops of water, it got even better with nutmeg, caramel, herbs(like a dill), and oak. I REALLY like this whiskey. It is probably my new favorite.
