Tastes

Tried this last night during a 4 Irish whiskey tasting with some church friends. This was one of the standouts. I forget the specific notes, but we all really enjoyed it. Can certainly get some of the bourbon notes on nose and palate.

What is it about this that I like so much? It's unique to my palate. Perhaps it's the charcoal mellowing? I've got a barrel pick and it's easily one of my favorite bottles. Delicious, deep nose. The flavor is a bit tropical/coconut, maple and molasses...sweet and vanilla. Great finish as well. It's got that burn, but it's brief.

This has become a favorite of mine. Creamy and honey like nose. Lower proof with only a minor hug, offset by the sweet, buttery notes...almost like pancakes. Little to medium finish leaves me wanting more once my tongue dries up a little.

Tasty and a nice deviation from my bourbon norm. Toffee and a bit of rum on the nose. Palate is smooth, sweet and buttery, kind of like a mix of peanut butter and honey. Easy finish with some scotchy peatiness. Solid member of my bottle club.

Delicious caramel goodness. Robust palate with a handful of oak. Smooth and sweet. Not much wrong with this easy drinker.

Got this at Nancy’s Hustle in Houston for $14. Nose of chocolate and waffle cone. Still uncertain of the palate but it wasn’t as involved as I was expecting. Good but nothing special imo. Glad I tried it regardless. Won’t go out of my way to seek it.

Melon, pecan pie, toffee. Sweet and smooth, yet with a distinct taste. Mild burn. Oh so good.
