This isn't your Old No. 7 Jack Daniels. On the nose i get primarily sweet caramel followed by some oak. On the palate it leads with more sweet caramel and some vanilla, followed by classic Jack banana amd some toasty oak. It finishes sweet with the banana, birnt sugar, and oak lingering. A very nice, inexpensive whiskey.37.0 USD per Bottle

Starlight Carl T. Huber's Single Barrel Bourbon Finished in Pineau des Charentes Barrels
Bourbon — Indiana , USA
Reviewed June 6, 2023 (edited June 7, 2023)Barrel Nation pick. Barrel no. FB233-2, 104.8 proof, 4.5 years. Hint of heat on the nose followed by wood and grapey fruit notes. The palate tickles my tongue at first, but then rich fruity bourbon notes quickly wash over. Occasionally I get a passing nutty funk, but it's mostly fruit and oak. It doesn't drink hot, per se, but given the proof I'm surprised how it dances on my tongue, almost like some ryes I've had (triple checked the bottle, it's a bourbon). The grapey fruit notes that the finishing barrel give it are pleasant. It can get a bit tannic after a few sips. -
Smoke Wagon Uncut Unfiltered Bourbon
Bourbon — Indiana (bottled in Nevada), USA
Reviewed May 23, 2023Batch 130, 115.26 proof. Light and sweet on the nose, almost no ethanol is present which is surprising for the proof. The palate is sweet oak with a nice spicy rye tingle. That mix is what I gravitate towards in high rye bourbons and rye whiskeys. After the rye spice subsides a bit, I get some fruit notes, but it's the sweet, caramel, light oak notes that linger on my palate. -
Stranahan's Single Barrel Cask Strength Single Malt
American Single Malt — Colorado, USA
Reviewed April 24, 2023 (edited October 27, 2023)Argonaut Wine and Liquor pick. Barrel 16-2335. 5yr 7mo, 117.61 proof. 100% malted barley. Rich sweet palate with notes of molasses and dried fruits. Reminds me of the Balcones single malt barrel proof I had a year ago. The finish is malty and more molasses sweetness with a passing subtle smoke on occasion. The proof is evident on the nose, palate, and finish but it's not overwhelming.47.0 USD per Bottle -
King's Family Distillery Ryeconic
Rye — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed April 23, 2023 (edited April 24, 2023)Batch #24. Aged 6yr 4mo. 111 proof. Just like the last Ryeconic batch I had this one hits all the right MGP 95/5 rye notes. Oak, vanilla, green apples, rye spice, and hints of dill.68.0 USD per Bottle -
Maker's Mark Wood Finishing Series 2022 BRT-02
Bourbon — Kentucky , USA
Reviewed April 20, 2023 (edited August 20, 2023)Sweet dried fruit and a hint of oak on the nose. The palate is a rich mix of dried fruit, caramel, oak, with hints of vanilla and slight chocolate. The light sweet oak lingers on well after I've finished the sip. Some notes give a similarity to MM46. It's such a pleasant pour and was consistent throughout the entire bottle. Wish I had a backup.60.0 USD per Bottle -

Ragged Branch Signature Bourbon
Bourbon — Virginia , USA
Reviewed March 28, 2023 (edited November 16, 2023)Similar to their wheated whiskey, this has a distinct malty farmlike element on the nose and palate. A hint of ethanol is present at the end, but doesn't overwhelm the nose. The palate is leads with a hint of sweet vanilla followed by rye spice and then finishes with the a roasty/malty note from the malted barley. Far from a stereotypical bourbon, but its a interesting pour.4.0 USD per Pour
