Elijah Craig Single Barrel Barrel Proof Bourbon (Private Label)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 18, 2024 (edited November 19, 2024)Weaver's Liquors 2022. Barrel # 6071269. 10 years, 126 proof. Light caramel and maple on the nose, followed by some funky oak. The proof singes the nose giving a slight cinnamon note, combined with the other notes can be like cinnamon french toast. Agitating the glass gives off a vanilla waffle cone note. The palate feels rich with oak and caramel notes. The palate doesn't present as diverse as the mose did. The oak lingers for a while on the finish, but again not much complexity.80.0 USD per Bottle -
Barrel number 16930. Aged 6 years, 117.8 proof. Has a dusty.mineral note on the nose followed by a weak but typical MGP profile. Unlike the nose, the palate is strong with the typical dill, maple, caramel, oak, and some peppery rye spice. To me, the typical MGP profile. The more i drink it the more it starts to transition to peppery rye spice mixed with medicinal herbal flavors. Today's tasting is probably the best this bottle has tasted to me--quintessential MGP rye thru and thru.25.0 USD per Bottle

117.3 proof batch. There isn't much to the nose for me, just some sweetness. Later it had notes of wood and funk--almost similar to beam funk. The palate was woody/musky at first. Later in it's primarily sweet vanilla and caramel with the right mix of oak. It doesn't evolve much from there, but that's okay. It's not overly complex but it's a great sipper.50.0 USD per Bottle

Elijah Craig Single Barrel Barrel Proof Bourbon (Private Label)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 10, 2024BWG Private Barrel #6902174. 9 years old, 94 proof. On the nose: light sweet fruit, honey, and oak. Occasional floral note wisps. Some vanilla is present too. The palate is oak, cherry, and honey. Sometimes comes across as medicinal. The finish is a medicinal oak flavor that lingers, but isnt strong or cloying. This private pick certainly exceeds that of the standard self offering.37.0 USD per Bottle -
Thompson Select 2023, 8 year 4 month. Not much on the nose, a little heat and light sweet notes. The palate is where the whiskey comes forward with sweet caramel mingles with oak and rye spice. The sweetness lingers well into the finish. This is a very rich KC SiB Rye offering. Surprisingly there was no beam funk to be found.60.0 USD per Bottle

Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Barrel Proof Tennessee Whiskey
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed August 8, 2024Barrel number 23-06616, 128.3 proof. The ethanol is strong on the nose, but if you can get past it there are some hints of cherry and vanilla. First sip was a strong punch of cherry and vanilla. The next sip comes across with rich banana, vanilla, and creme brulee. They linger on for the finish, but the finish is not super long lasting.62.0 USD per Bottle -
Sagamore Spirit Cask Strength Straight Rye
Rye — Indiana (bottled in Maryland), USA
Reviewed July 14, 2024Batch 12AK. This is quintessential Sagamore with the classic rye and dill notes from the mix of theirs and MGP rye distillate. The sweet oak mixes nicely with hints of tobacco. These fade to baking spice which leaves a little bitterness and tannic oak finish.60.0 USD per Bottle -
Luckie Champagne barrel pick: 7 years, 114 proof, MGP sourced. This bottle has a stark difference based on glass. In a glencairn glass the nose is fruity notes, almost brandy like grape, with weak oak, vanilla, and caramel. The palate. The palate starts as hot, brandy grape and fades to light oak and caramel. The light oak and caramel remains on the finish. When I've had this before in a rocking glass, the brandy/grape notes are gone and the oak, caramel, and vanilla are stronger with bits of maple also present. To my tastes, the rocker glass was better than the glencairn pour. Not sure I'd pay retail for it, but at the clearance price I paid it's worth it.
