First nosing is sweet vanilla buttercream and butterscotch. The butterscotch transfers to the palate followed by a light hint of honeyed fruit. Second nosing has some dark red fruit notes which transfer to the palate and mix with the butterscotch. Now I'm getting some peach, apricot, and some caramel cinnamon. It's amazing how much this has changed from when I first had it.60.0 USD per Bottle

The nose is classic Larceny barrel proof mixing oak, caramel, and sweet cinnamon. First taste is sweet cinnamon rolls followed by classic Heaven Hill oak. Second nosing has some dark red fruit notes; taste was more cinnamon rolls with a hint of vanilla. This is probably the best tasting I've had of this particular batch.65.0 USD per Bottle

Phoenix Rising. 5 years 9 months. Warehouse D, Floor 6, Rick 20. Tasting after the bottle has had some time to open up. Now the beam funk is starting to come forward. The nose is still light with herbal rye spice, beam funk, and a slight apple pie like sweet note. The palate is warm rye spice, sweet caramel, and hints of beam funk. The finish is short but pleasant.54.0 USD per Bottle

Total Wine reserve blend, 86 proof. Given the proof, there's a surprising amount of heat on the nose. Otherwise there is just a light fruity sweetness. That fruit sweetness carries over to the palate and lingers after the finish. It's not a complex drink, but what is there is very nice. Would be interested to see higher proof and age from Breckenridge products in the future.50.0 USD per Bottle

Traverse City Whiskey Co. Barrel Proof Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Michigan, USA
Reviewed November 30, 2024 (edited December 2, 2024)60.9% abv batch. The nose smells like whiskey, nothing too complex but nothing off-putting either. There are also some hints of what I'm going to call toasted wood present. Later on, the nosing gives off vanilla waffle cone which I noticed first on the taste. On the palate, the first sip was like a sweet waffle cone. Every once and a while I get a slight not of what I'll call "craft" whiskey notes. Other tastes give a bit of a medicinal note. The finish was short with not much lingering or to note.80.0 USD per Bottle -
Angel's Envy Bourbon Finished in Port Wine Barrels
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 30, 2024Tasting and pricing from a 375ml bottle. The nose has light dark fruit and vanilla notes. The palate has typical bourbon sweet vanilla, cherry, and slight oak. In a way it reminds me of Buffalo Trace. The sweet vanilla and fruit tends to linger after the sip. While i haven't had much port wine finished whiskey, if you gave me this blind, I'm not sure I'd realize it was finished.25.0 USD per Bottle -
Elijah Craig Single Barrel Barrel Proof Bourbon (Private Label)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 18, 2024 (edited November 19, 2024)Weaver's Liquors 2022. Barrel # 6071269. 10 years, 126 proof. Light caramel and maple on the nose, followed by some funky oak. The proof singes the nose giving a slight cinnamon note, combined with the other notes can be like cinnamon french toast. Agitating the glass gives off a vanilla waffle cone note. The palate feels rich with oak and caramel notes. The palate doesn't present as diverse as the mose did. The oak lingers for a while on the finish, but again not much complexity.80.0 USD per Bottle -
Barrel number 16930. Aged 6 years, 117.8 proof. Has a dusty.mineral note on the nose followed by a weak but typical MGP profile. Unlike the nose, the palate is strong with the typical dill, maple, caramel, oak, and some peppery rye spice. To me, the typical MGP profile. The more i drink it the more it starts to transition to peppery rye spice mixed with medicinal herbal flavors. Today's tasting is probably the best this bottle has tasted to me--quintessential MGP rye thru and thru.25.0 USD per Bottle

117.3 proof batch. There isn't much to the nose for me, just some sweetness. Later it had notes of wood and funk--almost similar to beam funk. The palate was woody/musky at first. Later in it's primarily sweet vanilla and caramel with the right mix of oak. It doesn't evolve much from there, but that's okay. It's not overly complex but it's a great sipper.50.0 USD per Bottle
