J.P. Wiser's Legacy Canadian Whisky
Canadian — Ontario, Canada
Reviewed January 25, 2017 (edited February 8, 2017)This whiskey has a very similar nose to stalk and barrel blue blend. That's not a good thing. Fortunately, legacy is palatable and doesn't have the artificial flavour of S&B. Strong butterscotch and maple on the nose. What makes this decent, is the palate and finish. The artificial smell is absent and it's not too bad. I would not buy this again. $49.95 @ lcbo (fortunately I got this on clearance for $35). 84/100 -
Old Taylor Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 21, 2017 (edited April 24, 2021)Simple, all around good bourbon. Nose of oak, sawdust, under ripe bananas and old grass. Oak, corn and a warm astringency on the tongue. 85/100 -
On the nose this has a fresh small of sweet maple, honey, oak, and ripe red apples. You can taste the youth of this. It's young and vibrant and raw. The maple and oak shine through with a bit of straw, and anise. The consensus that this is a fantastic bourbon for the price is completely accurate. 92/100

Eagle Rare 10 Year Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 20, 2017 (edited February 18, 2017)Nose is of cinnamon, oak, cloves and barley/oats. Delicious. Palate has cinnamon, oak, and dried apples. Very smooth. The subtle burn is more around the tongue than down the throat. Overall, excellent. 90/100
