I get that it's not whiskey, it's a liquor. But being sweet, it does have notes of wood and certain complexity. I do like sweet liquors as digestives, so this is quite my cup of tea.

Yes. It's sweet. Yes, it's more a liquor than rum. And yes, it's yummy, especially as a sipping liquor.

Alright for mixing. There are better options in the same price range, but it doesn't suck. Bought for 13€ in Spain.

A workhorse, slightly better than Brugal Añejo, but similar; and quite a lot better than Barceló Añejo when mixed with Pepsi Max. It would be my third option in this price range, after Legendario Elixir de Cuba and Matusalem Añejo. Bought for 14€ in Spain
  7. Legendario Ron Añejo

When drinking Cuba libres, I usually prefer rums that give character to the mix, not just a plain neutral flavour. This one is among the former ones. Not much is needed to be poured in order to identify it's there. It's sharp, not super sweet and I'd say a bit smoked. Matusalem Añejo and Havana 7 might be close calls, and the first one, quite cheaper. Bought for 20€ in Spain

  8. Ron Barceló Añejo

If you are searching for a rhum to mix with coke that doesn't suck and that's cheap enough, this could be it. Not too sweet, not too strong, not smoked, not spiced, not harsh on the throat. You can taste it's there but without standing out on any particular field. A good workhorse, nothing more and nothing less. Oh, doesn't make a good mix with Pepsi Max. It enhances the artificial sweetness of it. Bought for 13.5€ in Spain
    14.0 EUR per Bottle
