Tastes

Mmmmuch better than the original. Has a wonderful nose. Taste is strong caramel and reminds me of charred marshmallows on s’mores and dark roasted coffee beans . There’s something about Woodford though, that has a fishy taste about 3/4 through the finish. Doesn’t last long. I get it in the original as well and it’s just enough to make me hesitate from calling it a favorite.

Normally I pick bourbon but for St Paddy I went with RB12 over Jameson. Delicious butterscotch, honey, and oranges. Not sure I’ll buy a bottle but for an Irish, I’d recommend it all day. Cheers!

At 100 proof, this was decent bourbon but take it down with a bit of water and it becomes a new favorite. The nose reminds me of birthday cake icing. The taste is complex with dark fruits, cinnamon, vanilla, and just the right amount of barrel. It’s a little oily in the mouth but not off putting. I’m become a fan boy of Buffalo Trace bourbons. At a good price if $44, I’ll definitely purchase more but it’s not enough to consistently win over Eagle Rare at $28.

Not enjoying the Wood as much as I remembered. Smells like s’mores over smokey fire with grass and floral notes. Taste has a strange fishy finish. Easy to drink but there are many other bourbons I’d choose first.

A bourbon that lives up to its reputation! My only criticism is the nose; it’s over taken by the port wine barrels. However, the balance is near perfect on the taste with fresh fruits and honey sweetness. Sit with it a while. It gets better by the glass. $50

I wish I could give 3.5 stars. Taste is very good with classic bourbon flavors. I love the added hint of plum mid-way through. The mouthfeel is perfect, the way bourbon should be. The nose is too light for me. Overall, I’d be happy to drink this all day - cheers!

Spices, oak, and cinnamon. Reminds me of Christmas. Hot alcohol burn on the way down. I don’t usually add water but a drop REALLY rounds off the flavors. Not bad for $30.

Great whiskey. BiB and goes down like an 80. Beautiful color, smells like classic bourbon. The taste is complex and wonderful. Small pours and lots of them makes a great night. Would be a 4 but the $28 adds another star. What a steal! Edit: after a drop of water... perfection. Seriously tell me a better bourbon bc I need to try it.

Vanilla nose with a strong alcohol fever punch. Smells more like 100 than 90 proof. Spicy and maybe too much barrel? Overall a solid bourbon but for $35 there are better options out there for a daily sipper.
