Big hearty Rye bite here. Exceptionally hot. High alcohol content and very Rye forward make this a hard swallow. Big boy pants are required. Consumed neat the spice lingers forever across the full palate. A couple of generous drops of water subdues the heat. But the spice tingle continues. Mine was the 2015 release @ 109 proof.

Mine was the 2015 release. Again you can't go wrong with E.C. Though a single barrel older by 6 years this release has little to recommend it beyond the 12 year Craig. A little smokier than the younger bottling it's not enough to justify the significant difference in price. That this site has rated is only $$ in terms of expense is suspicious.

You really can't go wrong with any Version of Elijah Craig. The extra aging (an additional 4 years?). Only adds to the great entry level bourbon. I wish it was 100 proof though.

If you enjoy barrel proof this is for you. Everything you like about E.C. But so much more upfront. Rich chocolaty smoke and smooth vanilla. Yes some bottles are a little hotter than the others .. Add a little water. It's fantastic.

I know precious little about Irish Whiskey. I bought this on the Recommendation of Snyder's on Capitol Hill. The original 12 year I tried I found watery/weak, devoid of flavor. This fills in all the gaps and is amongst the smoothest I've ever tasted.

Amongst the best ryes I've ever had. No significant rye bite. It's delicious.

My barrel was rich & full of flavor. So very much better than any bottle of 90 proof Old Forester I've ever had.
