I tried this in Tucson as recommended by a waitress. My experience with tequila is very limited. The nose is banana, wood, slight Pinesol and smoke. The taste is juicy fruit gum with a mesquite smoked finish. Very delightful. I tried it first with a large rock and then neat. Much more complex when neat in my opinion. A lovely pour!

The Glenrothes 12 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed February 20, 2022 (edited March 24, 2022)Simple but pleasant! Sweet honeyed cereal on the nose. Similar taste with a slight hint of milk chocolate on the finish. A light dram and very Speyside start to finish! More of a summer pour in my opinion. -
Springbank 12 Year Cask Strength
Single Malt — Campbeltown, Scotland
Reviewed October 24, 2021 (edited February 20, 2022)Smokey salted caramel, stewed fruit and seaweed on the nose. I love the depth of flavors as this dram unfolds. Burnt orange, dried fruits, leather and peat accompanied by a tarry finish. This pour is a balanced mash up of Speyside complexity and island hearty earthiness. This is one of the best cask strength scotches I have discovered in a while.120.0 USD per Bottle -
Pappy Van Winkle 23 Year
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 17, 2021 (edited December 14, 2021)Oak with vanilla extract and deep fruit syrup on the nose. The oak continues on the tongue with a mild licorice and leather taste lingering through the long finish. My last swallow reminded me of toasted caramel. -
This review is after my fourth or fifth pour from this bottle which I purchased a few months ago. Light lemon/orange, honey and mint on the nose. The taste reminds me of pear and mild apple with a white chocolate and oak finish. Compass Box really finds a way to make every expression they produce special.

Macallan Double Cask 15 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed May 29, 2021 (edited February 3, 2022)The nose is very full with a classic Macallan smell. The European oak shines through from start to finish. In the mouth the deep fruit flavors are up front and then layered with honey, vanilla and nuttiness. The theme continues with a subtle cinnamon and ground pepper finish. This dram is quite enjoyable. Plus, for a Macallan, the price is not out of reach for most whiskey lovers. -
Wild Turkey Rare Breed Barrel Proof Rye
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 27, 2021 (edited June 7, 2021)"I have had several pours from my bottle before posting this review. The nose is surprisingly muted but opens with a few drops of water. The aromas include lemon zest, bitter herbs and mint. It reminds me of a toned down lemon Pledge furniture polish smell; which a bit off putting. Fortunately it does not taste like lemon Pledge; I can only imagine furniture polish would not taste good but I have no personal experience :-) The taste is classic rye with a bit if sourness and cinnamon bite on the finish. The high alcohol content is most noticeable on the finish. The furniture polish smell should have doomed my review but I do like this whiskey as a whole. A good example of the the sum of the parts ultimately resulting in a good whiskey. " -
High West Bourye (2020 Release)
Blended American Whiskey — Indiana (bottled in Utah), USA
Reviewed May 19, 2021 (edited June 7, 2021)Rye and oak on the nose. The taste is smoother than the aroma; mild with a blend of muted orange and cinnamon. The finish is medium length with no rye burn.Grand Hotel -
Crown Royal Limited Edition
Canadian — Manitoba, Canada
Reviewed January 23, 2021 (edited March 7, 2021)The critic review nails the nose and pallet but I do not find the pepper spice finish suggested. This expression has complexity way above the average mildness of most Canadian whiskies. I got my bottle in Canada and will get another when I next visit the great white north! -
Willett Family Estate Small Batch Rye 4 Year
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 16, 2021 (edited April 5, 2021)Classic rye nose with cherry notes. The liquid starts very smooth on the pallet changing to cinnamon, chocolate and bitter nuts and finishes with a moderate lingering spice. This whiskey performs above its price but good luck finding it in your store.
