This whiskey has a prominent aroma of citrus, caramel and wood. The taste is subtle with banana and nuts followed by a lingering bitter finish. This pour is surprisingly good and exceeded my expectation. It is a very unique whiskey; I am guessing because blue corn is used in the mash bill. I like it!

Barrell Whiskey Infinite Barrel Project (July 16, 2018)
Other Whiskey — (bottled in) Kentucky, Multiple Countries
Reviewed January 2, 2021The nose is very interesting with hints of European oak and brandied cherries. The alcohol is prevalent as the opening act followed by a mild mash up of flavors ending with spiciness. This pour lives up to the infinity bottle theme with a fun complexity. I am looking forward to trying the 2020 bottling.Liquor Barn -
Bushmills 21 Year Single Malt

Wild Turkey Master's Keep Cornerstone Rye
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 23, 2019 (edited May 22, 2020)Almond, anise seed and rye on the nose followed by orange zest and a pleasant peppery taste which starts early and lasts long into the finish. A very solid rye with a nice warmth from the back of the throat that lingers as it travels downward! -
I have had this bottle for a while and decided to pour a dram (or two) tonight. This is a terrific bourbon! A quintessential bourbon nose. It is smooth on the tongue with orange notes and a subtle milk chocolate treat at the end. The finish is very pleasant oak without much spice and yet it has staying power. This whiskey is very balanced and yet has character worth revisiting. I may have underrated this delightful spirit.

Thomas H. Handy Sazerac Rye (Fall 2017)
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 20, 2019 (edited July 17, 2020)Like a reunion with a long lost friend!!! Quintessential nose of a rye without being over powering. A sweet fruit and floral nose. Smooth taste that belies the high proof. Nice rye pop and slight smoke. Great peppery finish like a fine peppercorn steak sauce. So good!!! -
Old Fitzgerald 9 Year Bottled in Bond (Fall 2018)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 23, 2019 (edited May 22, 2020)Very special from start to finish. The nose has a pleasant smooth sweetness of vanilla caramel with gentle oak and coconut highlights. The taste is complex with the aromas melding into an earthiness and subtle fruitiness. The finish is appropriately long and fades without a heavy bite. The bottled in bond alcohol content does not overpower this fine Kentucky tipple. -
Evan Williams Single Barrel Vintage
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 16, 2019 (edited May 22, 2020)This spirit has grown on me over time. At first I considered the 96 rating laughable but the second third fourth and ... tastings caused me to conclude this is a very good bourbon. Not a 96 but a solid low 90’s. I paired it with a Montecristo No. 4 Cuban cigar tonight; a nice one two punch. The bourbon has a light pleasant nose of sweet fruitiness and vanilla oak. The taste is similar with a saltiness and lovely spice on the finish. The finish is moderately long and delightful. I plan for this offering to be a staple in my cabinet from now on. -
Picked up this bottle at the distillery visitor’s center in late March. Warehouse JW Barrel No. 19.6 G. I revisited this gem two months later and write my review with the benefit of several tastings. The oak and alcohol are present on the nose but not overpoweringly so. The taste delivers licorice followed by caramel and a whiff of smoke to finish. In a word smooth!!! The experience is wrapped up with a lovely Kentucky hug!! Adding a few drops of water smooths out the nose and decreased the licorice notes on the tongue. Vanilla caramel shines through with the benefit of the H2O. Less KY hug with dilution. I like it better with no water added. BTW, when I purchased this bottle, I was with two friends. We each picked a bottle from a different barrel. That evening we sampled each liberally. I must proclaim now with no bias or malicious intent that my bottle is superior to theirs.
