Garrison Brothers HoneyDew
Flavored Whiskey — Texas, USA
Reviewed September 29, 2021 (edited January 7, 2022)This is not flavored whiskey. This is bourbon with honey essentially t-bagged into it for a little bit, and then proofed down to 80. I initially had low expectations because of this, but I was pleasantly surprised. It has all the dusty, woody caramel, sweet tea, and spice I would expect from GB, and a light kiss from the honey. Not even close to being too sweet. I used it to mix a couple times, but I think I prefer it neat. Solid buy at its retail price in the mid 60s. -
Crowded Barrel Single Malt of Magnificence Batch 1
American Single Malt — Texas, USA
Reviewed September 6, 2021 (edited November 15, 2021)Butterscotch and light BBQ smoke. The nose is freakin ridiculous. Rich Texas oak. It’s just full of patriotism and masculinity. Spice cake and vanilla cream frosting. The smoke kinda disappears on the palate, but it gets more smoky on the nose as I sip. It doesn’t finish super long, but that’s ok. -
Heaven Hill Bottled In Bond 7 Year
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 6, 2021 (edited October 22, 2021)The nose is very oak. It’s like a cinnamon stick up my nose. Pretty rich, sweet corn, spiky oak, a little bitter coffee. Quality bourbon. -
Balcones Pilgrimage
American Single Malt — Texas, USA
Reviewed September 6, 2021 (edited November 12, 2021)Peach out the wazoo on the nose along with a hint of banana. Malty softness defines it. The palate is even more peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream. It’s rich, viscous, and candy sweet. I would love this after a hearty steak dinner. -
I love Glenmorangie. And I am so glad they marketing this as “made for mixing” so heavily. Otherwise, I’d say this is a failure when compared to the excellent products they typically put out. To be sure, this is not a good single malt for sipping neat, but add a little water and it turns from cloyingly sweet and viscous flytrap to drinkable budget scotch. Glenmorangie, you’re still #1 in my heart and I know this product was not aimed at me. I’ll stick to my Lasanta, my annual special releases, and my Signet. I feel so filthy rating a Glenmorangie so low, but I hope Dr. Lumsden knows I would still sit at his feet and listen to him lecture about the chemistry of whiskey for hours.

Tullibardine 500 Sherry Finish
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed August 29, 2021 (edited August 22, 2022)The nose is fairly bland, but it has some fruit to it. The palate is nice. It give me some rich red fruit that lasts for a little bit. There’s also some nutmeg and malt, but overall, it’s not super complex. Good, not great. -
Tullibardine 15 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed August 29, 2021 (edited June 26, 2022)Toasty oak on the nose. Decadent, velvety, rich. The palate delivery is caramelized plum and strawberry, and malt. The development brings some earthy notes along with some rustic bread followed by creme brûlée. The finish lingers for a good bit with more toasty oak.
