Nose is slightly sweet and peaty, but not overpowering. Mouthfeel is oily, buttery and warm. Palate starts spicy, with cinnamon and clove, followed by a gentle fruity sweetness, then lingering but muted peat smoke. Giving 4 stars because of the complexity and because I've never tasted a whiskey quite like this, but still trying to figure out if I actually like it.64.0 USD per BottleCambridge Spirits

Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Bourbon

Copper color. Nose is complex, dominated mostly by a light peat smoke. Further inspection reveals a subtle floral component, vanilla and oak. Medium body. Palate has a lot of peppery spice, with light vanilla and oak, and more peat smoke on the backend. The long finish is where this whiskey really shines. The peat is joined by sweet cherry syrup and vanilla, warming spices, with a peppery tingle on the lips.69.0 USD per BottleWhole Foods Market
