Bonal Gentiane-Quina Aperitif
Bitter Liqueurs — France
Reviewed December 11, 2020 (edited January 23, 2023)Really good stuff. Made from partially fermented grape juice, fortified and infused with local herbs. Currants, flowers, sweet spices and dried citrus peel with a nice touch of sweetness balanced by fantastic acidity. Makes it a lively and well balanced Aperitif. Could be great in cocktails that need a gentler and fresher Amaro. -
Kilkerran 12 Year
Single Malt — Campbeltown, Scotland
Reviewed November 28, 2020 (edited February 24, 2021)Wow. After having tasted this on year seven, the final stretch really brings it all together. Complex nose of wood lacquer, seaside rocks, green apple peel and fresh cut tall grass. No nose of the first fill bourbon cask, no vanilla or sweet scent. Perhaps a hint of pineapple. Medium body with a sharp bite, surprising punch for the abv. Very subtle fruit and very good authenticity of barley, light peat and very fresh smokiness. Incredible length and clarity with an elegant profile while providing a serious bite. Impressive. Smooth, but dry. Excellent -
Medium amber colour. Soft nose of vanilla and orange with some candied Apple in the background. Round and simple aroma. A bit muddled. Very soft and round attack with chewy texture, almost spongy. Caramel, white chocolate, candied orange and some clove as well, but not too much. Soft simple and very very smooth. Absolutely a beginner's whisky. But it is well balanced and quite elegant despite its plumpness and lack of texture. Missing a bit of bite and some freshness

Dufter av noe tropisk frukt, kokos og treesap. Sødmefull aroma. Bredt og søtt anslag, men med et fint bitt. Kokos og ananas fortsetter med god lengde. Litt søt avslutning, men veldig godt. Veldig lett å like for nye drikkere og har absolutt både struktur og lengde selv om det blir litt søtt. Litt mye fat her kanskje.
