Tastes

N: sweet corn, clove and cinnamon, hints of apples and acetone. After sitting out, caramel P: Rye grain and oak upfront, very hot mid palate F: Charcoal smoky, oak and hints of white pepper Dry on the finish, flavors come back in waves. Fruit and baking spice really come out on the nose with a few drops of water, but flavor is very similar.

Big Red Liquors Floor 9 hothouse pick Barrel 6156 N: cinnamon, lots of spice, hints of leather and apple or pear P: soft vanilla and honey before burst of oak and spice, then a mid palate return to the soft bread and yeast with sweetness. F: sweet and spicy! this thing is a spice bomb and I like it far more than most tame ryes

N: vanilla and orange, a bit of rye bread but less grain than your average rye P: orange peel and pear dominate the front, followed by a classic oaky mid-palate. F: soft rye bite with lingering Woody flavors Very nice pour overall. Good whisky but not for the rye diehard.

N: baking spices and vanilla, caramel and sugar, hints of cherry cough drop and citrus fruit P: apple and caramel followed by a bit of grain, citrus, and pepper F: peppery and hot, lingers softly with pepper and grain Exquisite, complex flavors for a good price

N: banana, allspice, hints of caramel. that said, pretty indistinct nose P: sweet caramel, middle has lots of rye and bready F: peppery and long, but pleasant a decent drinker, good as a cocktail whisky

Review for Crown Liquors Barrel #7976 Warehouse W-W, Floor 2, Rick 50 Barreled on 2/11/2004 Selected on 10/2/2018 N: brown sugar, hints of corn and other grain, soft vanilla P: Softly sweet upfront, followed by Deep oak mid-palate with heat F: shorter with hints of pepper and cocoa, maybe even some tobacco Inital notes without any added water. You should add water. Nose opens up huge with fruit (cherries and oak), flavors smooth out and some vanilla comes through. Complex spirit, albiet rough around the edges Stars are for profile after adding water

N: hot scent, very herbal, orange peel P: smooth, slightly sweet F: orange, nutty, and oak, herbs

N: honey, stone fruit, sourness P: oakey, hints of grapey, sour, lemon zest F: long, peppery but not hot, hints of oak weird but fun

N: toffee, subtle fruit P: honey, vanilla, hints of baking spice, cinnamon F: short pepper that dissolves and lingering sweet/spice The bottles must vary a lot, because I much prefer this to my first, unreviewed taste. Warehouse H, Barrel 127, bottle 215
