Tastes

Peppery. Spicy. Cinnamon. Caramel.

3 1/2 stars. Rich. Caramel forward. Quite sweet. Ice cream in a glass. But delicious.

Gentle nose. Rye burn. Sour finish. Hoppy. Interesting.

Sour nose. Smooth and sweet. Light spice. Pairs well with a cool evening and John Wick on the TV real loud.

Gentle fruit nose. More like an Irish whisky than a scotch. Gently warms your mouth. Faint vanilla at the end, a reedy finish. Decent. $70 in Ontario.

Bold nose. You can smell it from across the table. Sweet on the nose. Spicy and rich with a single malt bite to it. Really terrific. The premium version of Alberta Premium, though I prefer the regular AP. Can't go wrong with this though. Alberta makes delicious rye.

Brilliant nose. Well balanced. Really spicy. Sparkles on the tongue. Really rich and full. Bursting with rye. Most interesting rye (Canadian whisky) of the year. Wow. Like a meal. $70 and very hard to find. I got one of the last bottles in Ontario and the LCBO didn't want to seem to give it to me. One per customer.

Typical Wiser's deliciousness. Fruit forward with vanilla. I preferred it on ice. $65.

Fierce nose. Vanilla. Succulent. Sweet. Slow burn. Spicy. Could be the best rye I've ever tasted. Certainly the most expensive at $250 a bottle. Comes in a cinched bag in a box. Pewter cap.

Drinking as suggested, from freezer. Slow, viscous pour. Astringent nose. Floral. A gentler single malt. Smart gimmick. I bought into it but then again I come from a winter country (Canada). Bottle purchased at distillery in Scotland for me as gift. Not available in Ontario. Glenfiddich's Winter Storm is $350 here so maybe it's better the Dalwhinnie isn't available. I don't know anyone else who's even heard of it. Suckers.
