Might be because of the year? Has a bitter smell, smooth, but with a bitter burnt tire aftertaste. Similar characteristics of other rye whiskies, but does not have a clean finish.

Starts smooth with a quick ramp up of heat that lingers. Heavy spices, rye and barrel prominence, clover, pepper, allspice.

Smells of sweet apple pie. Hot on the palette with oak throughout. Tastes of apples, cinnamon, peaches, caramel, and oak wood. Tasty.

Smooth with slight heat. Smell and taste of sweet rye mint vanilla.

Hot with sweet spice. Wonderful lingering mouthfeel that lasts. Honestly a surprise. It’s tasty and hard to stop drinking after the flavor subsides.

Smooth. On the nose I get sweet floral and fruity notes. Taste is complex with cinnamon chocolate honey notes. Toasted oak and cream. Great mouthfeel. Well balanced. Hard to not drink more. One of my favorites.
