Cooperstown Select Straight Single Malt Whiskey
American Single Malt — New York, USA
Reviewed November 22, 2023Good nose. Buttery, carmelly but heavy barrel. maybe it’s just the name but I smell a wood bat. I smell leather. I smell baseball. Says it’s sherry cask finished. I get that fruited note as well. First Taste is definitely Young and bold. I get a lot of burnt (but good) notes. Burnt apple. Burnt carmel. Good spicy feel. Love the barrel proof and big alcohol content. Complex. There are plenty of finer whiskeys out there, but this is a really good one to explore. Especially for the $15 deal I found!15.0 USD per Bottle -
You have to be ready for this one or you’ll be disappointed. Full disclosure: almost a pure bourbon drinker when making this assessment. Packaging is awesome and wax seal is always intriguing...cool bottle to have on your shelf! Super dark color, wide/slow legs. Smell of dates, cinnamon, spice, and oak. You can tell this will be sweet and thick. Viscous feel. Some smoke, some spice...a bit of raisin or dark fruit, maybe some of that date, but WAYYY sweeter and way more fruitful than the whiskeys than I’m used too. Long finish that definitely has a cigar linger or a tobacco note. Good for a change of pace. Long sipper. I can appreciate it, but not my style right now.

Glenmorangie Lasanta Sherry Cask Finish 12 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed May 11, 2022Big sweet, dark fruit nose. Got some oak in there too. Immediate flavor with a big spicy swallow. Healthy burn and peat for sure but you could fool a guy with as many bourbon characteristics as this has as well. Very, very enjoyable.
