My first rye, I bought this for an online tasting event and it was on the buy list. You can definitely taste a rye but there’s something else too? Weird, but am I tasting cucumber?? I liked it.

Well it’s cheaper and more available than a cocktail, but it’s candy. I love maple bourbons on light evenings and this one goes down like water. In other words, I can over drink this one.

I prefer to drink this over a rock rather than making a cocktail. That being said, it’s a total sugar bomb. It’s a little stronger than Coopers Mark Maple but it still goes down like candy.

I got this in a gift box that included a Glencairn glass. The packaging was eye candy for me and I couldn’t resist. I had high expectations for the single barrel select. I had a neat sample of this after finishing a Makers Mark 101 and I found it to be really harsh in comparison.

It’s so yummy and snacky that it goes down too quickly over a gigantic rock. I didn’t realize how sweet and essentially weak it was until I tasted it again after a neat Makers Mark 101. It is ridiculously sweet in that context. The maple is a really nice flavor, reminding me of bacon and syrup.

I’m a sucker for a limited release and the 101 Makers Mark was previously only available for tastings at the distillery in Loretto, Texas. I enjoy the 101 neat in a Glencairn glass. The nose is uneventful but the taste is delightfully smooth.
