Belle Meade Bourbon Cognac Cask Finish
Bourbon — (bottled in) Tennessee, USA
Reviewed September 21, 2017Very nice. Just a hint of rye spice and a short burn make this easy to drink. Some finished whiskeys are overly sweet, but this one seems to strike a good balance. I will definitely be grabbing a second bottle to set aside - my first will not last long. -
Garrison Brothers Texas Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Texas, USA
Reviewed December 9, 2016 (edited May 23, 2024)I am a Texan but I am not a fan of Texas bourbons. They seem to all taste about the same to me - very heavy on the corn. This one was no exception. I shared a bottle with friends and the consensus was "pretty good, but not at all worth the price." -
Parker's Heritage Promise of Hope
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 16, 2016 (edited December 5, 2023)Parker Beam said it all (and I can only paraphrase), 'This is what I think bourbon should be.' I believe Parker knows what he's talking about! I had this in a blind tasting where it was the unanimous winner for the night. Full bodied with rich flavors of leather and vanilla, and an oily texture that allows them to really linger. Only a moderate burn going down, but it hangs there for a wonderfully long time. I loved this tasting and feel fortunate to have an unopened bottle in my cabinet. -
This is a well balanced and easy to drink WT. While the proof came in surprisingly below 90, nothing is missing from the Wild Turkey flavor profile. It does seem lacking, in my opinion, when compared to Russell's Reserve Single Barrel. However, I have only had one glass so far and that may not be a fair comparison. At $135 I will want to savor this for quite a while...
