On the nose I get some citrus and fruit. What is noticeable is it’s nicely balanced. On the palate I get more citrus and fruit with a splash of sherry. Again it’s nicely balanced. The finish provides a nice spice and another taste I haven’t identified. The length is long which for this whisky is very enjoyable. The mouth feel is typical of pot still whiskies, a nice creaminess Where me and my son differ is the resting period. I preferred the initial sips and thought it lost a lot from resting where he was just the opposite. At under $60 for this whisky there is no reason it shouldn’t be on your shelf.

Macallan The Harmony Collection Rich Cacao
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed February 16, 2022This is a very indulgent scotch. The nose and palate both evoke chocolate. The mouth feel is a perfect level of creaminess with a long finish. It is the perfect pairing for either Belgian chocolate or a Partagas Black Label. -
Kirkland 24 Year Speyside Sherry Cask Finish
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed January 24, 2022 (edited September 13, 2022)It has to be one of the darkest scotches I have tried. The initial nose was very light with just a hint of sherry coming through. After setting for 10min I get a nice chocolate aroma. On the palate I get the sherry, chocolate along with malt a bit of oak and spice. There is a sweetness that I wasn’t expecting. The finish is medium with chocolate, fruit and a very slight hint of oak. Mouth feel is on the edge of creaminess but at least it’s not thin. Overall it was a great purchase. You could pay $100 for it and it would still be a good purchase. Next taste I will bloom it with a drop of water which I almost never do. That is a 2oz pour in the glass.70.0 USD per BottleCostco Wholesale -
Kilchoman Machir Bay (2016 Edition)
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed December 12, 2021 (edited January 13, 2022)First pour. On the nose I get some citrus, light vanilla and a pleasing smoke smell. Once it hits the palate I get fruit and more of the peated smoke. Finish let’s the oloroso sherry come through with a nice black pepper and more of the smoke. Overall it is a pleasant sipper. Not to complex but has a certain amount of depth and the smoke doesn’t overpower. For the price point (Costco) it could be a regular sipper. I don’t sip the same spirit every day. Life is to short for that.
