Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur
Fruit Liqueurs — Veneto, Italy
Reviewed December 20, 2022 (edited September 6, 2024)On the nose, a heady aroma of sour cherry of course predominates. This is accompanied by notes of bitter almond, dill, and sage. Very oily and rich mouthfeel. On the palate, more notes of sour cherry, bitter almond, and dill – plus hazelnut and herbes de Provence. Palate is quite sweet, though counterbalanced by some bitterness. Finish is medium-long and silky smooth, without any discernable heat. 3.25/5.00 – Quite Good (neat) -
Aromas of orange, spruce wood, grapefruit, quinine, and dried sage. The same notes reappear on the palate, which is initially sweet before becoming very bitter on the finish. Round, oily mouthfeel. Finish is quite long. Its intense bitterness makes Campari somewhat overpowering on its own – but there’s good reason behind its indelible place in many classic cocktails. 2.75/5.00 – Decent (on the rocks)
