Springbank 12 Year Cask Strength
Single Malt — Campbeltown, Scotland
Reviewed December 12, 2020 (edited March 27, 2021)My bottle is actually Batch 18 and I have to say its now opened for 10 months now and bottle is just below 1/2 full. I'm disapointed witth this bottle and batch as so many reviewers rave about this but my bottle and batch has alchohol burn of a very young whiskey even watered down to 86% Whisky is also faily light showing poor cask quality especially since the staement of ex sherry. I hope Springbank corrects this issue and stop selling inferior whicky on their older quality offereings of the same 12 year. I also have the 15 and its dark and very delicious! -
Benromach Cask Strength Vintage 2008 (Batch 1)
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed November 29, 2020 (edited November 28, 2021)Strange how my palate changes over time. Now this bottle has been open for 10 months and though I still enjoy the flavors I am experienceing the strong alchohol burn of a young whiskey. In comparison I have had much better older whiskies (at double the price )with hardly any alchohol burn and they have a special place in my heart! I have Batch 3 arriveing tomorrow so look forward to comparing side by side! -
Purchased @ K&L Wines in California as a high recomendation from their tasting staff stateing "Amazing !". My impression now after sampling 1/4 of the bottle to today 10-26-2020 ( 11 months ) Very light in collor showing poor quality of reused casks . How many times reused?? Dont know but this one of the lightest whisky I ever purchased. Tasteing impressions = Very week and unmemorable taste with a strong alchohol burn of a much younger whisky.Blows my mind that this has this level of alchohol burn for 21 years. I just have to beleive this tastes more like a cheap 12 year old because of the severe burn. Bruichladdich Islay Barley @ 6 years has much less burn and more flavor that this inferior bottling. Glengoyne and Old Malt Cask should be ashamed to sell this shite! Feel ripped off on these K&L bottlings just for them. I personally will never buy these obscure whiskies again and will not trust K&L reviews. Just my experience. Yours may be different. Very dissapointed in the 4 bottles of special K&L releases they were promoting as amazing. More like barrels the distillers were trying to get rid of because it was not good enough for their main lineup!
