3.8 stars... rounded up. Two words best describe this blend. Smooth and friendly. It’s Very well balanced but also light too. Reminds me a bit of Japanese blends. Basically white wine of scotch... very nice but not a lot of depth or complexity. Good beginner scotch... my wife likes it and she normally can’t stand whiskey.

Aberlour 18 Year Double Cask Matured
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed March 18, 2018 (edited April 12, 2018)Good sherried scotch. Almost a Sherry bomb. Smooth. Still trying to figure out how much I like this style of whisky. Nice finish but dry... typical of the style. -
Compass Box The Peat Monster (Classic Brown Label)
Blended Malt — Scotland
Reviewed March 18, 2018 (edited August 29, 2018)Was a little intimidated by the “Monster” part of the label and was kind of expecting a peaty bog monster to take a shit in my mouth... pleasantly surprised that that wasn’t the case. Very well balanced. The peat wasn’t overwhelming at all and was followed by a nice sweet finish. Very nice. 4.1 Stars. -
Highland Park 12 Year
Single Malt — Islands, Scotland
Reviewed March 18, 2018 (edited August 29, 2018)Good drink, nice go to at the bar. Tried neat, might be better with an ice cube. Less Smokey or peaty than I was expecting. Standard whiskey that your father used to drink before he beat you and your siblings with a belt in a drunken rage. Just kidding. Sort of. -
Macallan Edition No. 2
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed March 18, 2018 (edited May 1, 2020)Really nice. Smooth... bit sweet.. and sherried but not overwhelmingly so or dry. Bit overpriced like most things Macallan by I kind of regret not picking up a bottle since it’s limited. 4.5ish stars. Had a chance to taste this again back to back with Mac 18. Mac 18 is really good but I found this Macallan No 2 to be better and a much better value considering how much a bottle of Mac 18 costs... Considering this is limited I plan to pick up a bottle of the Macallan No 2 the next time I see it at the store! -
