Leopold Bros. Three Chamber Bottled in Bond Rye (Collector's Edition)
Rye — Colorado , USA
Reviewed June 24, 2022 (edited July 19, 2022)As someone who is a huge fan of most rye whiskey, I can confidently say this is the most overpriced garbage I’ve ever tried… it’s FULL of that “crafty” too-much-tails-in-the-distillate note that I cannot stand and is a marker for poor distillation techniques. I literally wouldn’t pay $20 for this, much less $200… insanity. -
Old Carter 12 Year American Whiskey Batch 3 (2020 Release)
Blended American Whiskey — USA
Reviewed July 7, 2020 (edited February 10, 2023)This is a masterful blend of 12yr barrels sourced from Indiana with a resulting monster 138.1 proof! At first nose there is almost overwhelming ethanol, but after about 5mL of water, it really changes to a sweet cinnamon Red-Hot candy with vanilla and oak. On the palate the first sip can be overwhelming with alcohol, but again, a little water completely changes it into one of the most amazing, complex, and unique drams I’ve ever had. The tastes start with Cinnamon Red-Hot candy, oak, and vanilla, but then leather, candied bacon, and dark cherries show up, and finally some pickle brine! The finish goes on for days with smooth rye-spice, honey sweetness, and more of that interesting brine. WOW! -
Rare Perfection 15 Year Cask Strength Canadian Whisky
Canadian — Canada
Reviewed July 7, 2020 (edited November 6, 2020)This is incredibly unique. The first sip I thought I was tasting paint-thinner. But then I let it sit in my glass for about 15min, and it was a lot better. Then I added about 5ml of water, and suddenly I had a dram of incredible depth and unique flavors that is probably not for everyone, but definitely satisfies as a very unique, interesting bottle unlike anything I have had before.
