Singleton of Dufftown 12 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed December 17, 2017 (edited February 1, 2018)Outstanding! Lots of orange zest on the palate that finishes with a honey sweetness and long aroma of cereal, hay and fresh flowers. Incredibly smooth, well structured and balanced. -
Just the right amount of smoke...not the big bomb that you can still taste two days later with a fervent belch, but not so thin you doubt it’s Islay origins. Really doesn’t do much sitting on the palate, it’s not until the swallow that it really begins to open and is rich, nice cereal and almond with a touch of peach and vanilla. This is a nice and easy sipper.

What did I just taste?! Not a hint of smoke to be found but the nose makes you think this is infused with aromatics and the finish is clean as can be! But the true experience is at first palate impact when bright vanilla and wood gives way to the sherry and caramel with a touch of nutmeg and allspice! I’m impressed!

Glengoyne 15 Year (Discontinued)
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed December 10, 2017 (edited March 21, 2018)4.5 stars...earthy and balanced, lingers on the palate with fullness...opens over at least a minute which is unique given its lack of peatiness. The nose is surprisingly absent and the opening taste leaves you anticipating, but the notes of cocoa and slight tobacco leaf emerge in time. This is an impressive glass!
