Elijah Craig Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 2, 2018 (edited October 15, 2019)Honeydew melon on the nose along with some orange zest initially. Then vanilla, cinnamon and slight nuttiness. On the palate, more vanilla, nutmeg, and hint of bitter dark chocolate. Only slightly spicy, pleasantly more warm on the throat than tongue. Medium long finish with charred oak tannins. Impressive nose, wish it had little more sweetness carried from the smell into the taste. Not complex but ticks all the bourbon boxes well. On par with Eagle Rare. -
Nose is sweet cereal, slight dried raisins, some grassy notes. Custard like taste with more wheat cereal. Finishes short with fresh wood and pastries. Much worse with water, nose has more ethanol and taste becomes more bitter. Too light in flavor and complexety to even compare to the popular Bushmills or Jameson. Cheaper in this case is not worth the try, pay the few extra bucks for the aforementioned or Powers Gold.
