Willett Family Estate Small Batch Rye 4 Year
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 29, 2022 (edited May 1, 2022)My bottle has been tapped into for well over a year, just finishing it off now. The nose is quite subdued but interesting. You will notice a sweet cinnamon aroma mainly, but also a freshness of mint and musty cork scent. This is a very thick, oily and smooth mouthfeel juice. The palate tastes and feels much older than four years. The whiskey has considerable sweetness, but in a good way, not the off putting young corn you tend to get from many other young strong American whiskeys. Strong vanilla on the palate transitions to apricot and finishes off quite long with oak and finally leather. Extremely good value if you can find. -
Pours a bright copper color. Based of the color alone wouldn't be able to guess its aged in sherry casks. The nose is mainly cinnamon, stewed fruits and corn dust. It has a butterscotch flavor with ginger zest notes. The viscosity seems to change on the finish into a more syrupy plum note. Finishes with herbal notes, mainly mint and oak. My guess this rye is quite young and the extra barrel finish is very short. If you like your whiskey on the lighter more delicate style this isn't bad at all.

The Quiet Man Blended Traditional Irish Whiskey
Blended — Ireland
Reviewed November 27, 2019 (edited October 15, 2020)Extremely faint on the nose. Most difficult whiskey I have had to pick up a nosing profile. Nose has vanilla and slight orange notes. On the taste it's wheat cereal and honey notes. The finish brings light toasted bread along with traces of cocoa and light oak. Thankfully it has a surprisingly longer finish than I expected due to the nose being so light, medium length. There are better Irish malts finished in bourbon barrels available for this price range, Powers Bushmills Jameson. -

Woodford Reserve Double Oaked
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 7, 2019 (edited October 16, 2020)2018 bottle is 45.2% abv this whiskey reminds me why I don't buy Woodford Reserve. Very light in taste, especially considering its aged in Oak barrels a second time. Only reason I see buying this is for newcomers to bourbon. -
Wild Turkey Rare Breed Barrel Proof Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 1, 2019 (edited September 20, 2020)116.8 Proof. Very smooth and refined for a barrel proof considering the price. A dram of rare breed keeps you warm on cold nights but doesn't burn your tastebuds away. The nose has a lovely hazelnut scent. Excellent mouthfeel with a complexity you often don't find at this price range. The herbal notes on the palate differentiate this from most other bourbons. Higher rye balances out the sweetness nicely. Finish isn't the longest but still carries over the minty flavor with the spicy barrel char. Considering all WT bottling is still non GMOs grains, I definitely support this distillery.44.99 USD per Bottle -
Wild Turkey Bourbon 101
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 12, 2018 (edited October 16, 2020)On the nose I get butterscotch, nutmeg and dark fruits. On the palate there is caramel, vanilla, and rye. The finish is spicy pepper and oak. Excellent value! Reminds me of a younger Eagle Rare with more spice. For this price it's suitable for mixing or neat.25.99 USD per Bottle
