Sipsmith VJOP London Dry Gin
Navy-Strength Gin — England
Reviewed October 16, 2020 (edited August 11, 2023)This is a Juniper BOMB, almost a novelty. As much as I love juniper in London Dry gins, it’s a bit much for a traditional dry Martini in my opinion. It’s fantastic in a Negroni though, and I’m excited to try it in other drinks too, Corpse Reviver No. 2 perhaps? I think I’ll keep a bottle of this around, but I don’t think I’ll be opening it too often. -
Westward Sourdough
American Single Malt — Oregon, USA
Reviewed August 23, 2020 (edited December 8, 2020)Might be my favorite Westward experimental release yet. The nose is cocoa and peaches. Coconut, peach, and baked cookies on the palate. The finish is baking spices and orange peel. Love this! Talking to Christian, this release is just barrel 1/3. It will be interesting to see how it evolves over time. -
Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch B520
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 17, 2020 (edited August 24, 2020)I get coconut and baking spices on the nose. The palate is like cinnamon apple pie and quickly coats your mouth. Long finish and that’s where I get the char. Really excellent whiskey neat, and I’d be excited to try this one in an old fashioned too. -
Belvedere Single Estate Rye: Smogóry Forest
Unflavored Vodka — Poland
Reviewed August 17, 2020 (edited February 9, 2024)Excellent for a dry martini. I wouldn’t use this vodka as a mixer. Rich flavor coats your mouth. You can taste the grain.
