I was expecting more for the price. It’s pretty sweet for a rye. I think I’d go for Rittenhouse or Old Overholt, especially for the money.

From Copperworks’ website, “Released in June 2020, this whiskey offers aromas of toffee and ripe fruit, followed by plum and a pleasant smokiness. Entry flavors of walnut, baking spices, and red tea lead to more fruit (plum and tropical), with a finish of cocoa, papaya, and a slight minty finish.” This might be their best release yet.

Peanut brittle is a great descriptor, it’s very forward and identifiable. This is a full bodied whiskey that doesn’t pull any punches.

Rye spice and cherry on the nose. Palate is rich and oily and a little sweet for a Rye, but it’s well balanced with the spiciness you’d expect. Excellent Rye for the price. This has earned a place in my bar.

Coffee stout and raisins on the nose. Drinks almost like a peaty scotch, but there’s no smokiness. Smooth and balanced, coating mouthfeel. Persistent malty finish. Really outstanding dram.

I don’t buy peat-laden whiskies; this was a gift. Really, shockingly good. Wet rocks next to the ocean, campfire, tobacco, lightly sweet vanilla, oily and full-bodied. This is a complex whisky that you can lose yourself in. I love it!

Black cherry and a hint of acetone on the nose. Big oak influence with some cinnamon and baking spice.
