Koval Single Barrel Millet Whiskey
Other Whiskey — Illinois, USA
Reviewed December 30, 2015 (edited February 22, 2018)Perfumed nose, like nail polish. Subtle mild honey flavor that gives rise to a spicy bite. A bitter and synthetic liqueur flavoring on the finish. I feel a little coating residue, for better or for worse. For the hell of it, a splash of water helps tie all of these elements together, but doesn't necessarily make it any better. In my experience I find this rather original. Not my preferred taste, but I don't hate it either. -
Aberfeldy 12 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed December 28, 2015 (edited August 5, 2017)Smooth plain scotch. Exemplifies some of the chief components of the Dewars blend. Showcases simple honey syrup and mulled sugar, mild smoke, with a pale golden hue under light. When it comes to purchasing power, I would rather purchase the Great King Street, or an Irish single malt for cheaper. -

Wild Turkey Kentucky Straight Bourbon

Brownish gold color. Classic malt nose, and a bit of smoke. You have to try a bit to get a good whiff of floral candle sweetness. A touch of butterscotch, banana and creamy caramel. This could literally be alcoholic melted caramel. It isn't too complex, but for a pot still it certainly stands out from what you would expect out of something you would get from say, Midleton. There is a nice burn with some lingering soft creaminess on the finish. If it weren't so hard to obtain I would consider getting a bottle of my own!

Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban 12 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed December 16, 2015 (edited August 5, 2017)Dark Amber color. Faint smoke and salted caramel in the nose. Rolls off the tongue quite nicely, and has a nice mouth feel. Rich sweetness, and continuing with the salted sweetness. Good quality stuff. There is a lasting tingle on the finish, and rests like a mellow wine. Lightly tannic.
