Greenore Single Grain 8 Year
Single Grain — Ireland
Reviewed February 25, 2016 (edited September 28, 2018)[Whiskey Live New York 2016] - Surprising, or not surprising...this isn't very good. Incredibly bland even. You'll get the same flavors you'll find in Tyrconnel or Tullamore Dew, and that's about it. There's practically no barrel influence that lends to any redeeming factors. Shame. I wanted to like this! -
Tyrconnell 10 Year Madeira Cask Finish
Single Malt — Ireland
Reviewed February 25, 2016 (edited March 9, 2016)[Whiskey Live New York 2016] - Very familiar light single malt taste that I know Tyrconnel for. The extra barrel influence adds nice flavor and bite, but for the price I can't justify the hunt for this bottle. -
Tullamore D.E.W. Trilogy 15 Year
Blended — Ireland
Reviewed February 25, 2016 (edited September 21, 2017)[Whiskey Live New York 2016] - I'm being generous with my rating because I was only able to get a few sips out of this. It's Tully alright, but a little more complex. It's still not amazing, but I would like a bottle if I could find it. -
[Whiskey Live New York 2016] - After refraining from buying the bottle on impulse, I was able to give this expression a go. My word I should have given in and bought this already! This is where Tully truly shines, whereas I feel all of the single malt iterations are just lacking and not all too amazing. You're still getting that pot still creaminess and sweet grain malt influence, but we're also getting a mildly rich fruity flavor, and sufficient amount of bite. The best DEW has to offer!

[Whiskey Live New York 2016] - I know we're losing a little quality and are going the NAS route with this expression, but both my fiance and I found the Harmony to be more pleasant than the 12 year old. The unwarranted bite is gone, it makes for easy sweet drinking, and the integrity of the original flavor is just as prevalent. It's also a bit cheaper too, but I think I may be aiming for this one in the future. Interesting experiment!

Tullibardine 500 Sherry Finish
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed February 25, 2016 (edited June 22, 2020)[Whiskey Live New York 2016] - Going down the Tullibardine line, they're all fairly generic and tasteless. The sherry iteration however I did find quite enjoyable. The cask influence is noticable, a little bite is introduced to the mix, and the finish is long enough that you can remember what you just sampled. If you're looking to try this brand out, start with the 500 and don't look back. -
Lagavulin 12 Year (2012 Special Release)
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed February 25, 2016 (edited January 12, 2018)[Whiskey Live New York 2016] - Takes it a step further than the 16 year and the Double Barrel. Tastes like straight up grass, but heavenly, deliciously fruity, sense tingling grass. I would absolutely love a bottle of this for my shelf! -
Ardbeg Corryvreckan
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed February 25, 2016 (edited August 5, 2017)[Edit: Ardbeg Night 2016] - Not as amazing as I had once thought, for this time around I got a HUGE burnt wood influence that really needed time and water to subdue. Still has the rich sweet flavor and complexity to keep your taste buds tingling!
