Glenmorangie Lasanta Sherry Cask Finish 12 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed July 9, 2019 (edited April 5, 2020)Nose • The sweetness is immediately apparent with notes of sherry, snickerdoodle, floral, and a little blueberry. The floral notes continue as more lovely smells arise. Slight tannic notes are present, but are less apparent than the Original 10 year. Some honey notes waft in and continue the floral character. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Taste • Momentarily very sweet, but quickly develops a wonderful complexity, blending notes of flowers, spices, honey, malt, and oak. The spices are more floral and herbacious than peppery. After a few minutes of sipping and savoring, the signature slightly astringent/citric Glenmorangie notes are more apparent, but work well with the spirit instead of overwhelming it. • The finish of the whiskey is somewhat dry. The sweetness and spices taper off slowly and leave a slight cooling sensation in your mouth. It works with the remaining sweetness to remind you of cake icing. Overall, I think the sherry finish offers a great window into to the sherried whiskey style and that this offering outclasses the Original 10 Year Glenmorangie by a significant margin. The whiskey is complex, approachable, and quite tasty. 85/10028.0 USD per Bottle -

Booker's Bourbon Batch 2019-01 "Teresa's Batch"
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 3, 2019 (edited April 5, 2020)Nose: peanut butter, caramel, brown sugar, black pepper, heat and spicy rye, oak, wood char ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Taste: Intensly flavorful and mouth coating. Vanilla, oak, caramelized apples, a little grape, peanut butter, and white pepper. It really starts quite sweet and transitions into a thick, savory peanut butter note. I think the texture plays into that. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The finish is a little tart and medium in pepper level, but much of the lingering flavors are driven by the heat. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Really an incredible whiskey. The alcohol heat lingers on your tongue for a long while, but is never harsh. This whiskey makes a very strong case for me to continue to explore cask strength whisk(e)ys, especially unfiltered. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 94/100
