Elijah Craig Toasted Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 24, 2020 (edited August 29, 2020)I’m starting to lose faith in distillers “Tasting Notes” and ratings. Their assessment of this bourbon couldn’t be more off-base. There is hardly any spice, no cinnamon notes at all, and it is far from harsh. The nose and the palate are pretty consistent with each other, think graham cracker, marshmallow, sweet syrup. Finish isn’t anything crazy but there is a bit of baking spice and chocolate on the back palate. Very enjoyable, glad I have a couple of backup’s! -
Russell's Reserve 10 Year Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 16, 2020 (edited April 15, 2020)This is one of my favorite daily drinkers. Readily available, 10-year bourbon with a great flavor profile. The nose matches the palate, with sweet notes of cinnamon and brown sugar along with hints of vanilla extract. The profile is not overwhelming but very tasty. The finish isn’t long or lingering but it stays consistent with the palate, adding notes of oak and sweet corn to finish. Not the most complex but a great flavor profile that is consistent, and wonderfully relaxing to hang your hat on at the end of the day.40.0 USD per Bottle -
Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr. Straight Rye
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 19, 2020 (edited April 16, 2020)Very good. Everything a good rye should be- Spicy (cinnamon, rye spice, paprika), well balanced and rich. Nose matches the palate and flavor builds nicely. Would not pay more than retail for it, but it is a good pour. -
Stagg Jr Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch 1
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 28, 2019 (edited March 22, 2020)Batch 12- Absolutely phenomenal. Genuinely tastes like a slightly younger version of GTS ‘19. Wonderful flavor profile that matches the nose. Notes of chocolate, sweet oak, caramel and char. Finish is long and lush, delivering the full BP punch. Even better finding it at retail, well worth paying even double. They’ve perfected it this year. Find it, but it.50.0 USD per Bottle -
Even with the overhype, I am still a big fan of this one. A great bourbon, even better if you can find it at retail. Of the two bottles I have, I found rich and full flavor that you would expect from a 10 year bourbon. Notes of toffee, molasses and chocolate. Finish has a little more spice than the nose and the palate, but nothing overwhelming. All together very smooth and WELL WORTH the price.35.0 USD per Bottle

Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr. Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 11, 2019 (edited November 22, 2019)Ahh, EH Taylor. Can’t do much better for the price. All together one of the more rich bourbons for the age, notes of chocolate, toffee and almost a nutty caramel. Flavors will vary slightly from bottle to bottle. But, considering the age and the price, you will be hard pressed to find a more rich and wonderful bourbon. -
George T. Stagg Bourbon (Fall 2019)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 2, 2019 (edited March 10, 2020)Delicious. Finish on this one lasts so long you can sip on the same glass for hours. Notes of oak, cherry, and pure age. The lower ABV compared to earlier years really brings out some of the flavor notes for the more inexperienced palate. One of the best bourbons you can buy.
