Real drinkable, but nothing really complex about this whisky. I know it’s one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland, and is from the Northern tip. However not a lot of peat, smoke, or any other of the flavors I’ve come to enjoy from traditional speyside selections. Good but not great. Probably better options out there. I’m gonna keep looking. Cheers

1792 Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 12, 2020 (edited September 18, 2020)I just purchased this bottle, and within the last week I’ve enjoyed 2 pours. It pours nicely with vanilla and a charred sent. I do get some spice on the back end but nothing that ruins the flavor. I am shocked at the smoothness of this bourbon considering the high ABV. I’ve head that the flavor will open up over time with natural oxygenation, so I’m curious to see how that will effect the taste. Over all I’m pleased at this point and would recommend this bourbon. It’s a good choice to sit and sip with. -
Jefferson's Ocean Aged at Sea Voyage 17
Bourbon — USA
Reviewed February 11, 2020 (edited February 12, 2020)Strong caramel and toffee smell, but not flavor. A very smooth and balanced taste, with notes of vanilla and spices that hit the back of your throat. The finish is truly unique because the very last thing you taste is sea salt. In reading the ships log included with this bottle the trip was very smooth with temps never dropping below freezing. I would definitely recommend this as something to enjoy, and will look to compare it with other Jefferson Ocean Aged bottles that have a more tumultuous travel history. I initially tried it with ice as was recommended on the bottle which does eliminate the spice on the back of my throat but now as I enjoy my second glass without the ice you get more of the salt finish which is what makes this a really enjoyable drink. -
Right off the bat your hit with vanilla and fruit. Because it’s aged in rum casts there is a nice spice that you would associate with rum. I really like this marriage of single malt with rum, and the smoothness of this offering from Balvenie creates a really nice finish. The flavor lingers never overpowering but only compliments this drink. Although it’s price is on the higher end I truly believe it to be worth the higher price. Enjoy
