Old Forester 1920 Prohibition Style
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 13, 2021 (edited October 4, 2021)I couldn’t get past the cough syrup medicinal taste. There are much better bottles for cheaper. -
Nose: a lot of corn with hints of orange vanilla, maybe brown sugar. Taste: oak, vanilla, caramel, maybe a hint of leather. Drinks about right on for 110 proof, buts it’s a good proof point. I would definitely buy it again and I don’t say that often for a lot of the bourbons I try.39.0 USD per Bottle

New Hampshire Liquor store pick: Nose: a mix of ethanol and corn. Some may find it fruity, but I can’t get past the corn smell. Taste: a mix of floral and fruity with a bitter ending. Not very good in my opinion, but floral and fruity tend not to be my favorite flavor profile. The bitter ending makes it taste odd. I’ve had the bottle open for a few months now and still tastes the same as the neck pour.

Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch B521
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 22, 2021 (edited June 12, 2021)I opened a new bottle and left the neck pour in a glencairn for about 30 minutes. I was pleasantly surprised in a good way. On the nose it’s very sweet smelling almost like a mix of vanilla cake and maple. On the pallet it has a bunch of classic bourbon notes with a typical Elijah Craig flavor profile in the background. It drinks much lower than 118 proof which I enjoy. For 59.99 it was a steal and it is worth picking up if you find one.59.0 USD per Bottle
