Tastes

The nose is very light. I get some honey and malts. The taste is also pretty light. I saw someone else say butterscotch and I think it trends that way. Honestly for the price, it's a great budget Irish that I don't mind drinking neat. Nothing off-putting about it.

My second tasting of this was much better than the first. The first time I didn't get much other than oak. But on subsequent tastings it seemed to have settled down and I got big cherry notes on the pallet and not much bitterness from the barrel. I dig it and find it tough to rate. It's somewhere between a 3.75 and 3.5 for me but at the moment I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt and going with a 3.75. Maybe later tastings will change that.

Vanilla and baking spices on the nose while I get some burn with vanilla and bitter tannins when tasting. Not nearly as bitter as Eagle Rare. One of my favorite bourbons.

Maple syrup and baking spices

Sweet and malty. I can't detect any smoke. I can detect a little of the rum influence on the nose but don't get a lot when tasting. Not bad for the price.

Brown sugar and caramel. Little bit of alcohol bite but pretty smooth.

Overall enjoyable and I like it. It's pretty simple though. The first hint on the nose was nail polish but after a few minutes I got a lot of wood spice. For all intents and purposes it's 'smooth'. Not a lot of alcohol burn. Taste is simple though, mostly wood and baking spices.

Vanilla and brown sugar with hints of oak. Kinda minty/eucalyptus on the nose and the finish. A little thin but a decent sipper. Prefer it for cocktails.

Mostly vanilla on the nose. The nose is lighter than the black label. Notes of Carmel and vanilla on the taste, with a bit of burn.
