Tastes

I know a lot may disagree and typically chalk this one up to hype, but I really do enjoy it. It's sweet, smooth and has a nice plum forward note tab the well balanced and aged blend brings. The smoke is just right and not overwhelming at all. I don't normally like blended scotch, however this is a great bottle, if you can find it at a good price. Costco usually has a great deal on Blue Label twice a year. It may be pricey, however life is too short to not drink the good stuff.

First let me start of by saying I was lucky enough to taste a splash of this alongside a splash of 12 year Pappy at a whiskey bar and the moniker "Poor man's Pappy" stands! This is amazing juice!! Vanilla, brown sugar and the most amazing top note I can't describe, maybe almond or fresh berries??????? I dunno! But this is great juice. IF YOU CAN FIND IT. I was lucky enough to pick up two bottles and I have been enjoying this over more expensive bottles in our collection. There is just something about the aroma and nose of this, it's almost a shame to drink... But when you do, it does go down very warm and smooth. It has a lower proof at 80 and that makes Weller 12 a nice sipping Bourbon. In comparison to its cousins, "Antique 107" and "Special Reserve" this is my favorite, with Special reserve being my second. 12yr is smoother with more of that almond note that a love then Reserve. I am still getting to know 107, but it's hard to get past the harsh burn of the 107 proof as I like to sip my bourbon neat. Weller 12 is best enjoyed as it is, neat, perhaps with an iced whiskey stone. Don't ruin this beauty with ice. If I could find it regularly (and I can't) this would be my daily drinker.

Banana pudding/Banana bread maybe even good creamy sugary sticky banana ice cream overload! If you don't like sweet banana then stay away! I like it a lot, so it worked for me. Great supper, not too complex, just good, inexpensive sipping whiskey that In my opinion is maybe better suited as a desert liqueur then with cigars on the porch. Very one dimensional but still pleasing.. 3.5 stars.
