It's a decent rye if you want that spicy thing. Very gnarly astringent nose, you have to air it out a while to burn off. Then small sips reveal a bit of sweet vanilla cream along with peppery rye.

This review is actually for the regular Whistle Pig, I think it's a 10 year. It's got that rye spice and a little astringent at first, but if you let that air out and sip slowly, suddenly caramel, vanilla apple pie show up along with the peppery rye. Sweet!

Sherry! Grapey fruity sweet but clean, not cloying. Mild and unassuming overall, clean burn with a lingering light raisin sunshine feel, tho the nose is a bit astringent. Very enjoyable at the price.

Mild butter toffee fruity nose. Then dainty sweet apple streusel with cream, light cinnamon, so mild and gentle in its burn, not spicy. A nice gentle dessert finish after a spicy meal.

Whoa Nellie! Peaty big peat nose. Sweet peppery flavor with a hot sauce sweet pepper burn. Then more peat! Enjoy with spicy chorizo or steak.

This is like having a pleasant, dignified tea with your grandmother on a sunny afternoon. It's pleasant. It's not over the top. It doesn't burn. It's there - it is a little sweet - then it politely recedes.

I remember trying this and not being impressed, and I can't remember all the reasons and that's not fair, I know. I just think it was kind of harsh and astringent, beyond the big big smoke.

Nice but not a 93. I don't get the complex and varied notes; to me, it just smells like nice toffee, tastes sweet on tip of tongue then burns like holy hell. Pleasant but not complex.
