Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition
Blended — Ireland
Reviewed October 22, 2017 (edited November 15, 2017)I'm a Bushmill's or Teeling guy for Irish whiskeys, but this Jameson is a good one. More rich and velvety than regular Jameson, this has a nice slightly sweet hint of chocolate and the stout hops. A bit of bitter coffee at the tail end that finishes far too short. The smoothness coupled with the short finish does have me going for another sip far too quickly, which can be bad for my wallet and my productivity! -
Deanston Virgin Oak
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed August 10, 2017 (edited August 19, 2017)The nose is very pleasant, honey sweetness, cereal grain, a little oak and fruit. Palate definitely carries the sweet honey, some spice and does have a nice pleasant warming finish with some silkiness to it. Overall very pleasant to drink, definitely straight with no added water or ice. -
Evan Williams White Label Bottled in Bond Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 2, 2017 (edited September 12, 2017)For the price ($13.99) its tough to best. 100 proof, but still smooth. Nice sweetness but not overwhelming, a little spice and richness on the finish. Another one I like best with a single ice cube. True there are better bourbon but at its price point? This is the best one under $20 for me. -
solid 3.5 for me. price was good, around $30 on sale in Idaho liquor store. Honey and something like butterscotch candy on the nose, very oaky on the palate with a lot of spice. quite a bit of burn going down, finish has some of the honey sweetness, more oak and something like a mild tobacco or worn leather element. overall interesting and drinkable.

Glen Garioch Founder's Reserve
Single Malt — Highland, Scotland
Reviewed July 15, 2017 (edited July 19, 2017)The nose is very sweet with honey, palate confirms the honey along a little tart lemon and stewed pears, a little bit of brine in the finish, with a very clean, crisp albeit short finish. Very smooth easy to drink and easy to like dram. -
Definitely a sea air quality here, but not quite as strong as Bruichladdich. Some sweetness to balance it out, like a salted toffee peanut and a little dried fruit like raisin or apricot. Not detecting much smoke at all, not like Ardbeg or Laphroaig, or even Teacher's for that matter. Very smooth with a nice long warming finish. Perfect dram in the evening after dinner and are in the mood for a salty but sweet dessert.
