Something about travel changes perspective and alters course of …everything, I guess. I’m not trying to be poetic, but had I not been in Taiwan and been curious about local distilling everywhere I go, I may not have found this brand. Truly it’s an instant favorite. I wish this were a cologne. Words come to mind that I don’t think I’ve used in a tasting: earthy, mineral, reminiscent of grain teas (like the coffee alternative kind.) Immensely drinkable, probably owing to low proof but really pops on the nose and palette. The locals seem to be sleeping on this one in lieu of big name imports. In this case, the accolades are warranted and I trust the global community of proponents and honest single malt lovers. Highly recommend you try this at any price point, ideally on a good night where you are open to something novel but familiar. Looking forward to other cask configurations in their subsequent offerings.10.0 USD per Bottle

Leopold Bros. 4 Year Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Colorado, USA
Reviewed October 20, 2022 (edited August 20, 2023)Solid solid burb. Intense. Corny caramel on the nose, with a hint of herbal licorice. Subtle up front with a slight spicy finish. Maybe a sticky syrup on the back end. Unique but comfortable. -
Well over a year after my first taste, can’t believe I’m still the only taster. Brandy has a marketing problem. I wish more people were drinking it. This is well done, but a drip of water and it pops almost sickeningly sweet. Nose is sweet, maple caramel apple. At first sip we have red grape followed by tannin tug of war with hard candy. Oak is woven in.

Ko'olau Old Pali Road Whiskey
Other Whiskey — Hawaii, USA
Reviewed March 3, 2022 (edited May 23, 2022)It weirdly tastes like Hawaii. -
Am I getting ahead of myself? Why is this hitting me as way good right now. I feel like I’m a little tired of bourbon at the moment and the dimensions I don’t like are just bourboney… New word. Patent pending. Honey apple nose. Mild palette. Friendly. My oak hating friends won’t like. Akin to sucking on a coffee table (which I’m apt to do.)28.0 USD per PourLaszlo
