Booker's Bourbon Batch 2023-03 "Mighty Fine Batch"
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 1, 2023 (edited February 28, 2024)This is from the neck pour. Nose: All caramel and cinamon. Taste: Roasted spiced nuts in the winter. Maybe some toffee at the end. Mouthfeel: A bit hot right at the start, which makes sense at this proof. Finish: Medium to long finish. Overall, I am digging this. I tend to like Bookers and think back to some of the really great batches I’ve had over the past 5 years. Country Ham is one that I could justify spending this kind of money on, but at this price I won’t be chasing Bookers all the time, when some of the Knob Creek 9 single barrels are better at a lower price. -
High West Cask Collection, blend of straight bourbon whiskeys finished in cabernet sauvignon barrels
Bourbon — Utah, USA
Reviewed November 28, 2023 (edited November 29, 2023)Nose: Smells great, some type of fruit like fig or plum with crembrullee. Sounds weird but it works in my mind. Taste: actually on taste it is pleasant but I am having a hard time picking out anything specific. Maybe light notes of brown sugar type candy. Not really getting the cabernet notes coming theough though. Mouthfeel: smooth and thin, doesnmt really coat your mouth. Finish: Not the shortest finish, but on that side of the spectrum. Overall: Enjoyable and pleasant to have a pour, but my favorite part was the nose while drinking. Will see how this one changes after being open a while. Nice to ha e a bottle on the shelf and glad I tried but in this price range something like a Knob Creek 9yr single barrel would be my choice. -

Angel's Envy Cask Strength Bourbon Finished in Port Wine Barrels
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 4, 2022I am digging this one. Its definitely sweet with a brown sugar nose along with something else I can’t quite place at the moment, maybe crembrûlée. On taste I get sweet as well but a depth of flavor is there, kind of a dark fruits note, oak, and I keep thinking of bananas foster flavors with out the bananas. It drinks like a higher proof bourbon, in a good way, and you get a nice Kentucky Hug. -
Rabbit Hole Dareringer Straight Bourbon Finished in PX Sherry Casks
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 8, 2022 (edited February 14, 2022)Different than a lot of the other bourbons I’ve been sipping on recently. Nose - Like I am sautéing brown sugar in a little butter and vanilla. Almost like prepping bananas foster but no note of banana. Maybe some maple syrup hints too. Taste - Taste is totally different than the nose and none of those flavors are really coming through from the nose. Was expecting something along the lines of the EC Barrel Proof B251 on taste just on how it smelled…. Not at all though. For me the sherry really comes through. Totally picking up berries and maybe some vanilla hints. Black pepper too Finish and Mouthfeel - Not a super long finish and pretty light. Pleasant. -
Booker's Bourbon Batch 2021-01 "Donohoe's Batch"
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 7, 2021 (edited November 10, 2021)Wow, this one is complex. Not exactly what I was expecting, but excellent. The nose is like french toast or bread pudding. It had me thinking of vanilla caramel and as weird as it sounds, french toast cooking in lots of butter. Taste though is totally different. For me I get get cinnamon and baking spices, but not the typical bookers profile. The best way I can explain it is those candied roasted peanuts when they are fresh made. Mouthfeel is good and finish is moderate. Very good overall and looking to see how the flavor profile changes. -
Wow, this is delicious. Brown sugar, cinnamon and maybe figs on the nose. I know that may sound weird, but thats what I think of. Taste is like a cinnamon role, with heavy vanilla, and cinnamon notes. Mouthfeel is decent and and it has a nice long finish. This is the first time I’ve actually been able to find a bottle and I understand why it is hyped up.

Knob Creek 9 Year Single Barrel Reserve
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 6, 2021 (edited March 28, 2021)The nose is very sweet, and heavily like fresh baked banana bread. As far as taste and mouthfeel, it is very easy to drink. Lots of butterscotch and toffee, a bit of the barrel coming through as well. Overall, very good!
