What a fabulous whisky. Nose is astringent with caramelized sugar and then cherries coming through, a little deeper there is subtle oak and woody notes. The pallet is spicy throughout with sweet notes popping in and out and again a little cherry on the finish with lingering spice. Don’t let the packing fool you, this is whisky in a Chardonnay bottle. It’s fantastic for the $50’s range. An absolute cabinet whisky for me, bravo willet. A great whisky!

Rabbit Hole Cavehill Kentucky Straight Bourbon

Reviewed March 24, 2022 (edited June 1, 2022)Wow nice sharp bite out the gate. I love spicy whisky. Sweetness on the nose brown sugar like after a cinnamon roll pan has left the oven. The pallet begins spicy and lingers :). Then a smooth cool semi sweet note on the finish. A surprising oak note on the end of the finish too. Very nice bourbon for the $55-65 range. This is my second 4 grain mask bill to try, I’m liking the complexity. I would definitely recommend.Austin -
This is a fantastic whisky from the balconies line up, my favorite of theirs. The nose is sweet with a slight oak hint followed by brown sugar. The pallet is smooth and creamy. A subtle spice dancing with a touch of sweetness then turning the page to a longer remnant of oak and of char. The finish is a mild lingering spice of charred oak. A lovely bottle in the $50’s. Definitely one of my absolute favorites from Texas.

Holy cow Batman it’s chocolate! The tasting from Jake on the main page is excellent! I get all those on the nose and pallet. To me this is an interesting whisky. The chocolate is so unique. It’s a dessert whisky? I mean yea whisky for dessert, but literarily! The chocolate is too strong for me to want a whole bottle, but it’s a fun whisky to try. Very unique in my opinion.Austin

Reviewed January 12, 2021 (edited December 20, 2021)For the price, Wow! Smooth, a nice bit of spice, and a sweet note mixed in with the spice of the finish. Sweet and astringent on the nose. Very well done for the price. Would definitely recommend. Just to be clear, this is a very nice lower price point bourbon.Austin -
Old Forester 100 Proof Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 7, 2020 (edited September 12, 2020)A nice bourbon for the price ~$20. The nose is brown sugar and a bit astringent. The pallet is spicy and a brown sugar/caramelized sugars finish. A good lingering finish for the price. A got a bit of green fruit on the pallet early on, but towards the end of my tasting I got predominantly caramelized sugar and spice. Good for the price. -
Garrison Brothers Small Batch Bourbon Whiskey
Bourbon — Hye, Texas, USA
Reviewed September 6, 2020 (edited May 25, 2021)This is a controversial bourbon in my area, but I side with the fans on this one. The quick review: it was great! The nose: full of leather with subtle baking spices and oak. The pallet: full mouth feel, a mid spice that lingers on the tongue but not super strong. Very balanced subtle sweetness and spice, but the creamy buttery mouth feel was extraordinary. The finish is lingering and mid spice. Favorite notes: the leather on the nose and the creamy mouth feel. Very good stuff. Definitely recommend! We got it around $70 -
Elijah Craig Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 22, 2020 (edited August 26, 2020)Wow what a great $20-30 bourbon! I had it neat and with two ice cubes. First neat, the nose is sweet and full of vanilla and some carmal and lots of woody oaky notes, the pallet is vanilla sweet and a good dose of mid to long finish spice. A bit of an aftertaste that I couldn’t put my finger on that I didn’t love. But the nose and flavor out weight the aftertaste. Second on ice, wow this is the way to drink this for me! Neat was good ice was great! The nose is still full of vanilla and oak, mellowed a little. The pallet is vanilla and sweeter than neat. The ice must draw more of the sweet notes out. Definitely less spice but still has some spice on the finish. The ice removes the aftertaste that I got when neat. Great on ice! Good neat! Great for $20-30!
