Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Barrel Proof Tennessee Whiskey
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed April 25, 2023 (edited November 21, 2023)N: Banana Nut Bread P: Big flavors up front: bananas, vanilla, a pleasant nuttiness (walnut?) over a bed of roasted oak, cinnamon/nutmeg/citrus build towards the finish. F: bananas persist with a nice spice/oak/citrus flavor that lingers. I love banana nut bread so this was going to be a slam dunk. Not a whole lot a changing notes, but the notes it hits are fantastic. Has some heat for sure but hard to believe that 128.5 proof is so drinkable. Very unique compared to other whiskeys in my collection and I loved it. Will be purchasing the larger bottle, no doubt!24.0 USD per Bottle -
Sagamore Spirit 8 Year Straight Rye (2023 Release)
Rye — Maryland, USA
Reviewed April 25, 2023 (edited December 30, 2023)N: rye spice, vanilla, black cherry, clove P: cherry-vanilla crème bomb up front which persists underneath a perfect rye spice/oak/black tea flavor which extends through to the finish. F: Nice long rye spice, oak, clove/mint/tea goodness Nose, Palate, and Finish all top notch. Absolutely delicious, nectar of the gods level, haha. . The best rye I’ve had yet, quickly purchased a second bottle before supplies ran out. Really impressed with Sagamore.80.0 USD per Bottle -
Keeper's Heart Irish + American Whiskey 110 Proof
Other Whiskey — Multiple Countries
Reviewed April 8, 2023N: light floral/fruity, leather, wooden workbench with open paints P: light, delicately sweet vanilla cream, rye spice (less intense than the 86 proof surprisingly), cloves F: nice oak and rye spice This drinks much lower than 110 proof. Interesting but not overly complex. Much prefer it to the 86 proof version. Might open up a bit with time. Got it at a good price.40.0 USD per Bottle -
N: banana (older, mushy one), acetone P: rye spice, young oak, spearmint F: rye spice, young oak (tanins, astringent) Less viscosity and a shorter finish than the bourbon blend version (which I preferred on this tasting). Love rye spice but not a fan of the harsh, young oak flavors. If there’s a hint of vanilla in there it’s mostly drowned out on this pour. Will see if the 110 proof is better.25.0 USD per Bottle

N: light fruity, herbal, sugar cookie dough sweetness P: underlying vanilla pudding, white oak, peppery spice F: white oak and pepper Enjoyed the underlying pudding feel with the oak and spice dominant. Nice longer finish. Not overly complex but enjoyable. Got it on sale for St Patrick’s Day ($25), happy with the purchase. Bourbon flavors are definitely dialed down vs the Irish notes.25.0 USD per Bottle

Four Roses Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 17, 2023 (edited February 28, 2023)Warehouse: TN Barrel # 58-3A N: Fruity sweetness, vanilla/honey, doughy, floral (delicate) P: Fruity sweetness and caramel hits first followed quickly by a pleasant rye spice with roasted oak, underlying creamy vanilla, wintergreen, and herbal flavor. F: Rye spice fades, leaving pleasant oak, a little clove, creamy vanilla/caramel. Really enjoyed this bourbon, medium viscosity, interesting notes, not overpowering but very delicate and delicious. Had it both neat and on the rocks, both enjoyable. I’m a rye fan, so not surprised I liked this mash bill. For a $45 and widely available bourbon, I’m impressed and will be stocking this regularly.45.0 USD per Bottle -

Other Whiskey — USA
Reviewed December 21, 2022 (edited January 6, 2023)N: chocolate, toffee, maple syrup pancakes P: rye spice, oaky, maple syrup F: oak, spice, slight sweetness The nose on this is fantastic, palate is very nice balance of spice, sweetness, and oak, finish is pleasant. Not sure that the drink lives up to the nose, but regardless, I’m happy to have it on the shelf. -
Bardstown Bourbon Co. Plantation Rum Finish
Bourbon — USA
Reviewed December 21, 2022 (edited April 20, 2023)N: nutty, vanilla, oaky P: oak forward, vanilla, little pepper kicks in F: spice, vanilla, char, hint of smoke Thin viscosity but decent finish. Maybe because it’s a blend seems a bit all over the place. Preferred the finish to the palate. Like their rye blend better. -
