This one is a standard single barrel. It's a good one too. Nose of oak, coconut, almond and more sweet oak. If you give it time there is some nice nutmeg for me with some pencil shavings that make it very unique. Deep flavors of vanilla, toffee and caramel dominate the palate. There is some pleasant cherry and apple cinnamon to round out the palate. Finish is a nice mellow oak and toffee sweetness. It is a medium long finish, but what makes it great is just how pleasant it is as there is zero astringency. This one was bottled way back in May of 17' and the only thing I will say is these Russells bottles had weak corks in that era. This one busted and forced me to make some maneuvers to get it out without landing in the whiskey and tainting the flavor. They age well in the barrel but not in the shelf so if you have some in your bunker, keep an eye on them as the corks are really weak. Cheers!

Elijah Craig 18 Year Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 1, 2026 (edited March 30, 2026)It's very good. Very strong Vanilla which makes sense after 18 years. I'm a huge Elijah Craig fan and this one doesn't disappoint. However, if you want a better bang for your buck, I think a good barrel proof single barrel will bring you the best value in the lineup. -
Awesome 2017 release that I decided to finally open. Oh man it drinks so mellow for 131 proof. Floral, fruity, oak intermingled all the way through. Finish is awesome with oak, leather, brown sugar and more sweet oak. This is pretty close to a perfect pour for me. It tastes LE all the way! Holy smokes Elijah Craig barrel proof was outstanding a decade ago.

Rebel Small Batch Reserve Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 1, 2026 (edited April 5, 2026)This is a good buy for 29.99. I don't think this release will continue as is because Rebel will likely use different juice than Heaven Hill going forward. This is just my guess. Nose is really approachable. It gives off oak and pink bubble gum. It reminds me of good experiences as a kid packing my mouth with big league chew. There is a little hay stacked in a barn smell. Palate is really pleasant but simple as you might expect. Bubble gum follows through on the palate, or some people might say cotton candy. White or vanilla cake batter makes an appearance intermingling with some barrel char. There is a little honey and graham cracker. Finish is simple with some sweet and concentrated vanilla, black pepper and a dusty sawdust remains at the very end of a pleasant finish. Now open for a few months it is falling apart and becoming unbalanced. If you open it, good idea would be to work your way through it quickly. -
Elijah Craig Single Barrel Barrel Proof Bourbon (Private Label)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 24, 2025This is a 10 year old pick from Haskells in St. Paul, MN. Right at 122 proof. After letting rest in a normal rocks glass, amazing aromas ooze out and can be smelled throughout a good portion of my basement. Great nose with plenty of sweets mixed with dark fruits and awesome blend of oak intermingled. Great palate that leans a little desert like but oak balances beautifully. Great pick here. I get more oak than ECBP batches and the chest feels nice and warm after a slow welcoming Kentucky hug. Regret not getting the last bottle. -
Four Roses Single Barrel Collection - OBSF Recipe
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 23, 2025Great to see Four Roses expand the single barrel to other recipes. This one leads with floral, mint, chocolate and red fruit. It is a rye drinker's bourbon all the way. I get a lot of rye spice and clove intermingled with vanilla throughout the experience. I see more apple mentions than red fruit so I'm not sure if I'm picking up the fruit correctly, but this bottle has been open now for 8 months or so and has improved with time greatly.
