Rebel 100 Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 7, 2022 (edited July 25, 2024)Nose: The nose on this bourbon for me was very light and for that reason was hard to pinpoint what I was getting due to the lack of robust scents. The deeper I got into my glass, I did pick up a touch of corn and caramel. Also a had a bit of a scent of summer hay hauling from what I would suspect was the wheat. Expected a lot more for a 100 proof bourbon. Nose was slightly disappointing. Palate: Viscous mouthfeel, which was a plus for me. I catch that corn again with a kiss of vanilla and oak. On the back end it gets slightly peppery. Finish: Finish was short to medium in length and the corn appears again along with the wheat. Gets a little peppery and oakey on the backside. While the nose and palate are slightly underwhelming, for me, the finish helped make this bourbon enjoyable for me. For the price I would gladly keep this Lux Row product in my cabinet at all times.22.0 USD per Bottle -
Not quite as good as Kentucky Spirit but darn close. Nose it typical vanilla. I get a bit of toffee in this one. Palate is sweeter profile up front. I get some vanilla and sweet corn and some of that toffee flavor that quickly turns red hots cinnamon candy. Mid palate it turns over to charred oak and spice. Finish it medium in length and sweet at first but almost immediately turns to a really nice bold peppery spice. One of my absolute favorite “budget” bourbons.

Jack Daniel's 10 Year (Batch 1)
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed September 10, 2021 (edited November 2, 2021)Poured neat Nose is caramelized bananas with burnt brown sugar, maybe a touch of maple syrup. Palate gives up banana bread sweetness and then gives way to tobacco leaf and leather with a touch of oak and rye. Finish is medium and brings along the leather and rye. Bit of a dry finish.73.0 USD per BottleTahlequah -
Wild Turkey Kentucky Spirit Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 29, 2021 (edited January 10, 2022)Poured neat Allergy problems right now so not much smell. I do get a smell of pecan pie. Hint of baking spices. Very sweet smelling nose from what I can smell. Palate is sweet vanilla, caramel and mid palate I get sweet corn that quickly turns to cinnamon and rye. Finish is long and brings along a hint of the cinnamon and rye. This may be better than the Rare Breed.53.0 USD per Bottle -
Poured neat Nose: This one got my attention and punched me right in the nose. Brown sugar, clove, cinnamon, rye spice and a good dose of the ethanol. Touch overboard for me on the ethanol but not completely overwhelming. Palate: Buttery sweet corn and dried fruit. Then mid way I got the rye and a bit of white pepper. Finish: Was rather lengthy and started sweet with red hots cinnamon candies. Rye spice took over from here with some tobacco leaf, oak and a lingering peppery sensation. Previously, I’ve not had the fortune to find anything from Beam that I care for, however, this one I can see myself keeping around the liquor cabinet.23.0 USD per Bottle

Old Forester 1910 Old Fine Whisky
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 10, 2021 (edited September 9, 2021)Poured neat. The nose for me was sweet and smelled like a smoky bananas foster with a bit of butterscotch then came the charred oak barrel. Palate was caramelized brown sugar and oak barrel char sweetness. Mid palate hinted at bitter deal chocolate. The finish was medium-long and very charred oak heavy at first. As the finish toned down I got some dried cherry. I feel there is more to this that I’m missing. Was some things there I couldn’t quite make out. Will re-visit this after the bottle sits in the cabinet and opens up some. Would still buy again.55.0 USD per Bottle -
Larceny Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch B521
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 3, 2021 (edited October 17, 2021)Poured neat Nose is straight up caramel and candy corn with a touch of dark chocolate. Not as much ethanol burn as I would have expected for a 121 proof. Palate hits notes of brown sugar caramelized syrup drizzled over chocolate with a creamy mouth feel and then fades to charred oak earthiness that reminds me of smoked almonds. Chocolate, almond toffee flavor. The finish is long and spicy from the proof. In the finish I get the oak from the barrel and more of the charred barrel in the smoked almond flavor. Picked up two bottles because I expected this to be awesome. It didn’t disappoint. Will go back and get a couple more before it’s gone for sure.51.0 USD per BottleBiergarten Wine & Spirits -
Poured neat I cracked this bottle a few months ago and couldn’t stand it. Was a mixer at best. Saw it hanging out in the cabinet and decided to try it again. Glad I did. This bottle opened up for me and was good this time. The nose, while faint, for me smelled of buttered biscuits with a drizzle of caramel and vanilla. The palate, I got vanilla, oak and leather, in that order. The finish is slightly underwhelming. Was short to semi medium and brought along a touch of the vanilla, oak and leather and added in some pink peppercorns. Longer finish could help this bourbon out a lot. I will have to look for other Yellowstone offerings. After tryin again I will definitely buy this bottle again and open it and set it in the cabinet for a few months.38.0 USD per Bottle

Early Times Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 25, 2021 (edited February 12, 2022)Poured neat Nose is forward in orange peel and then a slight burnt brown sugar/caramel vibe. Touch of ethanol burn. On the palate I get a viscous mouthfeel and it coats my entire mouth. Caramel, vanilla, tobacco and rye all make an appearance. As the sip goes down I get a good bit of warmth from the proof and the rye. The finish is definitely the real star here. It’s long and spicy. Rye, pepper and leather appear here for me. Over all a fantastic pour for a great price. Hope Sazerac doesn’t ruin it.28.0 USD per Bottle -
Poured neat. In the nose I get some some pepper with a hint of peach cobbler. Palate hits nicely with banana in the front and then white pepper. The finish was medium and leathery at first and then got kinda dry as it lingered. Damn good rye at under $30, especially for a 100 proof BIB.28.0 USD per Bottle
